Another pass .... getting tired of Tim tinkering his milk machine. Do these colors for the pro machines reflect the paint quality you see in a Ferrari? When I see a red Ferrari .... I'm hypnotized in awe by its paint finish but recent iPhonePro color schemes (post iPhone 16) make me repel looking directly. Apple are up and down like a yo-yo with pro coloring options. They should offer Natural Titanium, White Titanium, Sierra Blue as standard offerings and also alternative bolder options to the more adventurous purchaser.

The variable aperture in the camera is going to help in video, not photos. To get cinematic motion blur your shutter speeds needs to be around 1/48th of a second. Without variable aperture you cannot get that low at aperture fully open. So the videos shot on iPhone, unless you use a ND filter, look un-cinematic.

I would say the iPhone 15 with its switch to USB-C
I'm not sure changing the port (due to a government mandate, mind you) qualifies as a major upgrade. Think of the differences between the 4S and the 5, the 5s and the 6, the 8 and the X...those were major design changes that affected the form factor of the device.

Everything since the X has just been a minor year-over-year evolution on that basic form factor each time.

Don't see them making a titanium color phone out of aluminum. But if you want bold, cars are a good way to go. Mini British Racing Green, Honda Boost Blue, Mazda Soul Red, etc. I would buy those. But they have to get the finish right. Anodized aluminum won't look like a nice metallic paint job.

I actually like the Dynamic Island. I wonder, now that Apple has introduced such a good front-facing camera on the 17 series, if putting the camera under the display would be a step backwards in quality.
Nothing keeps Apple from implementing the Dynamic Island notification scheme without an actual hole in the screen. Punching a physical hole in the screen for the camera was never necessary for "Dynamic Island." They could have had a camera on top bezel and still implemented Dynamic Island. I would have been fine with that, TBH.

But since they did put a physical hole in the screen, I don't expect to see any novel new approaches to notifications aside from DI until the physical hole goes away.

Exactly! 🤣

But, out of curiosity, why not just sticky the previous article?

I’ll get a new battery for my 14 Pro in a year or two, then ride it out until the very last security update. Then sometime in the early 2030s I’ll get a regular non-pro since they’re more than good enough. My old “upgrade every three years” routine is not coming back since improvements are so incremental now. The days of something like the giant leap I took from the 5 to the 6s are long gone!

"12 New Features"

"6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Display Sizes: The next Pro models are expected to have the same overall design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, including 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes and a "plateau" housing three rear cameras."

How is this a new feature?

I'm all for describing the new 18 Pro in detail. But don't bake it in a news article about new features

While the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are not expected to launch for more than five more months, there are already plenty of rumors about the devices.

iPhone-18-Pro-Deep-Red-Feature.jpg

It was initially reported that the iPhone 18 Pro models would have fully under-screen Face ID, with only a front camera visible in the top-left corner of the screen. However, the latest rumors indicate that only one Face ID component will be moved under the screen on the devices, which will result in merely a smaller Dynamic Island.

Below, we have recapped 12 features rumored for the iPhone 18 Pro models, as of April 2026:
  • Red Color: The special color for the iPhone 18 Pro models will reportedly be red.
  • Smaller Dynamic Island: It has been rumored that Face ID's flood illuminator will be moved under the screen on the iPhone 18 Pro models, paving the way for a smaller Dynamic Island on the devices.
  • 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Display Sizes: The next Pro models are expected to have the same overall design as the iPhone 17 Pro models, including 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch display sizes and a "plateau" housing three rear cameras.
  • LTPO+ Displays: More power-efficient displays could contribute to longer battery life.
  • Variable Aperture: The main 48-megapixel Fusion camera on both iPhone 18 Pro models is rumored to have a variable aperture, which would allow users to control the amount of light that passes through the camera's lens and reaches the sensor. This would provide greater control over depth of field. However, given that iPhones have smaller image sensors due to smartphone size constraints, it is unclear exactly how meaningful this improvement would be.
  • A20 Pro Chip: Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip is expected to use TSMC's first-generation 2nm process, whereas the A19 Pro chip is 3nm. With a 2nm architecture and a new packaging design, the A20 Pro chip should deliver solid year-over-year performance and power efficiency gains.
  • C2 Modem: Apple's custom C1 cellular modem for 5G and LTE debuted in the iPhone 16e last year, and that was followed by a C1X chip in the iPhone Air. Apple says the C1X modem is up to twice as fast as the C1 modem, and the most power-efficient modem in an iPhone ever. The improvements should continue with Apple's third-generation C2 modem in the iPhone 18 Pro models.
  • N2 Chip: Most of the iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air are equipped with an Apple-designed N1 chip that enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread. Apple says the N1 chip also improves the overall performance and reliability of features like Personal Hotspot and AirDrop. iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to have Apple's next-generation N2 chip, but it is not yet known what improvements would come with this upgrade.
  • A simplified Camera Control button with no swipe gestures.
  • Design changes to the rear Ceramic Shield for MagSafe charging, potentially including a more frosted glass appearance.
  • Web browsing via satellite.
  • The iPhone 18 Pro Max may be slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, perhaps to accommodate a larger battery.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable iPhone in September, followed by a standard iPhone 18 model, a lower-end iPhone 18e, and potentially a second-generation iPhone Air early next year.

"With 12 new features".... Feature #1... "Red color" lol that's enough macrumors for today.

Any rumors on the regular 18 Pro also getting the 2TB option this time?
What on earth are you doing on your iPhone that requires 2TB storage?!

I used to double up every other iPhone release from 3G (over 100k photos currently) but once they implemented iCloud optimisation, I’ve never needed to step up again.

I’m at a point now where any new iPhone purchase will be due to (failed) emergency surgery, not elective.

I was recently offered a new Air for no upfront cost and a relatively tiny bump in tariff by my network provider (that inventory must be gathering serious cobwebs) but other than for my kids - who are both still happy with the 12 mini for the time being - I’ve zero interest in replacing my 15 Pro Max.

Apple whom ever is picking these cheap ugly colors fire them!! Bring back what the customer wants not some nut job shades. Black or Space grey. Bad enough you are using cheap looking aluminum.

I don't like this particular red, but I want some COLORS. Black, for me, is boring as hell. Keep it in the lineup, but give us some options other than monochrome and faded pastels.
