This one might be my new iPhone. Still rocking an iPhone 14 Pro Max. As for other Apple devices I'm interested in upgrading my Apple TV and I want to get an iPad Mini. My iPad habits have changed and I no longer like the larger screen size. I have been loving my Kindles for reading. A Mini for comics and other media looks nice.

I thought there are two competing rumors? A smaller dynamic island OR left hand camera cutout?

I think apple will keep it the same price so that they can raise the price on the 20th anniversary iphone in 2027
Dude, price will be from 2026 high AF for all electronics with SSD, DDR, VDDR.

Today 64 GB kit of DDR5 CL30 from G.Skills costs $700

Variable aperture will need a slightly bigger sensor at least, otherwise might not be useful. Apart from the usual chip upgrade and the speed improvements it will bring, waiting to see how the dynamic island will change once the cut out becomes a simple hole. Burgundy and Purple will be good colors provided they are not too dark. Love my Orange 17 Pro Max and don't think I will be upgrading.

These things need to stop getting bigger/thicker. A super thin phone isn't really needed, but these big chunkers are getting to be too much.

People who complain about needing more battery life need to turn down their brightness, or are probably addicted and need to put their phones down.

I suppose I should really validate my perception by trying how a load of different mock-ups feel in my hand, and all things being equal one thing that is more demonstrable is that with extra thickness comes extra weight so that is a downside, but having said that my instinct is that (ignoring the weight issue), making my iPhone Pro Max thicker for the next version isn't really going to affect me at all.

When I take the phone in and out of my pocket or put it on a flat charger it is the camera bump that snags on the coin pocket in my trousers or prevents my phone from lying flat on a charger (I have to have it resting on the camera bump to align the charging coils but it still charges OK). I'm not sure that a thicker body will really change anything for me because if the camera bump stays the same depth that will still be the point of maximum projection that causes any issues for me. In fact making the body thicker, as well as any benefits that brings to battery life, might actually make the phone a bit more visually appealing to me by making the camera bump look a bit less prominent.

That discussion of the camera bulge being the limiting factor isn't relevant to people who put their phones in a case because the back of the case is typically flush with the lenses but even for people who use cases if the body of a phone grows by maybe 0.25mm I'm sure that case manufacturers would simply reduce the thickness of the back case material by the same amount so the overall dimensions of the phone+case would remain the same.

I can see the argument against increasing the weight further but personally I don't have any issue with the thickness of the main body increasing a bit.

Awful colour options and a side Face ID hole absolutely awful. And then the rumoured curved glass model. Problem Apple going for all the failed Android phone designs.

Perhaps for once the Google pixel will be better and more iPhone like?

The fold looks awful too!

My 16 is just one year old. If you're doing an article about next year's model, can you also do an article about the 2029-2030 model so I know what to expect when it will be time to replace my phone?

Do you really find so many places currently where you can’t browse the internet but need to?
Parks and hills just 5 minutes away from Cupertino. And yes, you´ll need internet there.

‘So many’ is of course relative

I like to go hiking 🥾 and camping 🏕️ at many National Parks 🏞️ out west where cell phone coverage is either nonexistent or very sparse and limited, therefore ANY means or getting relevant information needed in those particular situations would be beneficial and/or useful - even if the connection speed is not deemed fast enough to stream video

Even email 📧 probably THE easiest to implement data use-case, other than of course iMessage 💬 (which has already been made available by🍎) would be of massive benefit when in such no🛜tower situations - just ask someone at your local REI (if you have one near you) I shop at my HomeTown store in Reading whenever I’m in the area & came across this posted deal the other day - if there are any other backpackers here on MR that might want this:

I backpacked at Philmont for 14 days in NM back in 2008 with my cousin Matt and 9 other scouts and the only carrier that had any service was AT&T and it was mostly only on the high altitude (no tree) areas. I had Verizon but was able to call my Mom back home via someone else’s iPhone, but of course there wasn’t any data service with it only being EDGE on the original📱

nevertheless, you could always just simply ask the person whom your talking to on the phone for any needed informationℹ️ i.e. sports scores, stock prices, news🗞️ (MR post headlines) and your local weather are just some of the call-relayable info that I can think of but even weather might soon be made available via satellite 🛰️ next year:

These new chips are not new features. Apple has to stop calling the standard modernization of its devices a new feature.

I won’t buy until they reintroduce a black iPhone Pro. Using an orange or purple iPhone in a professional context? Ridiculous.

My iphone 12 pro made of stainless steel frame looks and feels way better than the iphone 17 pro aluminium brick. It's also way stronger.

18 Pro series need 16gb ram and high density batteries (but lighter), higher mAh than what the 17 Pro series has today.

🤣
