Apple's iPhone 18 Pro models could drop the current two-tone look of the rear casing found on the iPhone 17 Pro in favor of a more seamless aesthetic, if a Chinese leaker is reporting correct information.

On existing iPhone 17 Pro models, Apple has used a glass cutout at the back for MagSafe charging, and there is a color difference between the aluminum frame of the iPhone 17 Pro and the Ceramic Shield 2 cutout, giving the iPhone 17 Pro models a two-tone look.

That's set to change for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, according to known Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital. For the next-generation models, Apple has apparently updated the back-glass "replacement process" to minimize the color difference between the glass and the aluminum frame, resulting in a more unified appearance.

The claim could well dovetail with a separate rumor, also originating out of China, that said the Ceramic Shield will feature a "slightly transparent design." The latter description came in September courtesy of leaker Digital Chat Station, who also said the iPhone 18 Pro models will feature an otherwise similar design to the iPhone 17 Pro models.

Instant Digital, the author of today's rumor, has accurately leaked Apple information before, such as the Yellow finish for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2's Titanium Milanese Loop. However, the account does not have a perfect track record.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are reported to feature A20 Pro chips, fabricated with TSMC's latest 2nm process, and Apple's C2 modem rather than a Qualcomm modem. Both models are expected to launch alongside Apple's first foldable iPhone in September 2026.

It's probably actually about the whole 'debacle' with the Apple logo not being in the center of the charging coil. If they can make it one-tone again, they could move it back.

So let me get this right new iPhone delayed cancelled. iPhone 18 delayed to March 2027 and now the IPhone Pro reverts back to a similar design to the IPhone 16 Pro. Basically everything new cancelled what next the Pro moves back to titanium? I can see that being the next rumour!

So in end we have the same old iPhone just what I said it’s a matured market people want heavy phones same size ect. Fold will most likley flop too. Same for the curved glass model in 2027. In the end we will have a iPhone that looks the same every year.

It's the same old story, same old song and dance, my friend.

debacle? I noticed it but you're the first person I've seen mention it. I don't expect them to move the logo, they just centred it because the coil is hidden from view, and users find the magnet by feel while looking at the front of the phone. This story is about the colour of the rear glass not matching the colour of the aluminium, which people certainly mentioned. This too is not a debacle

What are you even talking about? This story is simple: they are moving away from the two-tone glass/aluminium colour to one where they are closer to appearing to be the same colour. Relax, birbs do exist.

I would be happy if Apple dropped the whole "two-tone" design on the iMac as well. Everyone loves the bright, vibrant colors on the back of iMacs, and most everyone I know hates the faded/desaturated color on the front.

The iPhone is the same thing for me. Ultimately I really don't care because it's just a tool I use, but it would still be nice if it looked more unified in color.

I didn't expect to see people upset the lose mismatched colors. The current state just looks silly to me. In reality, it is covered by a case 95% of tye time.

Not happy the cameras keep protruding, wish Apple would shrink the them
Well they are making them bigger not smaller. Expend this trend to continue. It seems the market wants better cameras, not smaller cameras. Pushing them out also leaves room for battery side, which people also seem to want a lot of

Yes just like the iPhone 16 pro was same all over surely the point is the 17 pro looks different? Apple are reverting back the way rather than innovation people dislike change and this is the market and bloggers deciding

A unified look might just redeem the iPhone 18 Pro from utter tedium. The iPhone 17 Pro? An eyesore that could curdle milk. And whilst you’re tinkering, Apple, revive the black Pro model. Cheers!

It's not going to look like the 16 Pro just from this change. The camera plateau is far more noticeable than the slightly different look of the Ceramic Shield.

It's not complicated. They moved to titanium to reduce weight, but it made the phone operating hotter, so they figured out aluminium worked better after all with heat dissipation. What's more, this is not like iPhone 16 Pro which featured glass over the entire back. This is about decreasing the amount of rear glass to increase the amount of rear aluminium to aid heat dissipation. This combined with the chamber makes the phone more useable. The rumour for 18 Pro isn't a reversal of this, it's purely a colour change. Did you read the article?

They spent 2 years selling us titanium. And yes it’s a change but why? I remember the bloggers moaned about the two tone effect. Bloggers are now dictating sales. Yes price is part of the reason for slow Air sales. But isn’t the rumour Orange will be ditched too? Then in 2027 the entire design will be ditched again and Apple want to change the design every year. Like Samsung apple are dropping products and changing too much.

I totally noticed it too, the minute you put a case on with a mag-safe "ring" on you know its not lined up right, SJ would have never let that out the door.....its also why the Apple clear cases have a white back to cover up the mistake.
