Yep, the only thing coming close to $1200 is the $1350 offered for trading in a MBP.

This will be "free" or near free on a 3 year contract with most major US carriers shortly if people are OK with that of course.
I know this works for many, but every time I look into switching to a carrier for one of these deals...where we need 2 new phones and are paying $30 unlimited flat per line, it still works out better or almost the same to buy the phones outright.

Fully agree! I did all the math and with 2 phones only the benefit is paying for it over 3 years instead of outright, but it offsets the upfront cost significantly.

Though it is only a $100 increase in the US, in my country the increase is approximately equal to $315 (for 18 Pro Max). Steep hike!!

This is almost identical to 17 Pro max minus the 2 nm chip and more expensive. Why would anyone buy this over 17 pro max?
Why would you upgrade if you already have a 17 pro max?
If you have the money sure but people don’t upgrade phones every year like they use to.
I have a 15 pro max and it’s still runs great. If I did upgrade it would be the foldable.

But let’s see.

Faster charging
Longer battery life
Better graphics and cpu performance
Variable aperture and camera performance
Smaller Dynamic Island
Glass is more seamless with the aluminum body colorwise.
Two new colors
