2 TB should be the minimum for what they charge for these things!
Price increases are not "unavoidable" it's just companies are "unwilling" to meet consumers half way and eat into their margins. We are paying for the situation most of them created.
Yep.Storage used by the OS is already ridiculously high:
They hold their margins because they are in business to make money - not meet customers half way. Would you take a pay cut if your boss came to you and said we need to meet customers half way due to rising costs?
Nobody has to buy Apple products. If the price is wrong buy something else.
It's all the tracking they do.Storage used by the OS is already ridiculously high:
I often do make a pay cut with my USA boss and meet them half way but like you said it’s not reciprocated. They frequently contact me on my personal phone, in my own time off, ask me to extra hours at little to no notice etc etc….. This is has been my experience and believe it to be the new “normal “.They hold their margins because they are in business to make money - not meet customers half way. Yes I realise that and is why I said they’re unwilling to eat into their margins, 100% of the price increase is passed to us. They are also the cause of the price increases not us consumers, so why do we pay for it, not them?
Likewise your example of my boss asking me to take a pay cut doesn’t compare seeing as I am not responsible for the price rises.
Why do people blindly defend these companies no matter what the situation?

Sadly not for a reasonable price. And even in times where storage was dirt cheap, apple's price was more than double what you would have expected.256 is quite sufficient, and if you need more, you can upgrade
Why not? Do you think that laptop manufacturers top out at 256GB? According to your logic, there should really be no more new car sales l, especially high end “in this economy”. Not everyone is doing it tough “in this economy”.As unfortunate as it is, did you really think they’d increase the storage in this economy?
well, last year I got a 17PM with 256, "downgraded" from my 13PM with 512 to not pay for the upgrade, has been working well for me deleting a lot of old photos/videos ...Sadly not for a reasonable price. And even in times where storage was dirt cheap, apple's price was more than double what you would have expected.
I think most Americans are indoctrinated not to have critical thinking regrettably.Yes I realise that and is why I said they’re unwilling to eat into their margins, 100% of the price increase is passed to us. What are you doing with AI that takes up so much local space? Just curious. I went with 512GB for my 17 Pro Max. Every two upgrades I double the storage. I really should just go for 2TB tho lolMy 128GB 15 Pro bursting at the seams is primarily why I'm upgrading this cycle. Those AI models are no joke when it comes to storage.
Going forward, I keep my iOS devices at 256gb and Macs at 1TB.
Idk why people can’t understand the difference between explaining how reality works and defending the practice of something. I think your analogy was quite on point because it shows that people always care about their bottom line. It’s business not a charity.I think you’re reading more into the analogy than I intended. The point wasn’t that consumers are responsible for the increased costs. It was simply that businesses generally don’t voluntarily reduce their own margins in order to “meet customers halfway,” any more than most individuals would voluntarily accept less compensation because their employer’s costs had gone up.
Also - it doesn't matter why costs went up, or who is responsible. What matters is that they have gone up and in a capitalist world, margins have to be maintained otherwise management will come under pressure from shareholders and risk being shown the door. That’s not defending Apple, it’s just describing how a for-profit company behaves.
And consumers absolutely get to decide the resulting price is no longer worth it and buy something else. Nobody HAS to buy an iPhone. If you don't like the price - there are many other smartphones available.
That sounds like a different issue. If your employer routinely expects you to donate personal time, respond outside working hours and accommodate last-minute requests without compensation, then the relationship has become one-sided. You might want to think about whether or not you should put up with that or start looking for a different job (I know that's not always easy).
I wouldn't care about the free tier thing, it's the constant nagging everytime you unlock an iDevice prompting you to upgrade. And they say apple doesn't have ads in it. ha ha ha. They just make them look like notifications.Another reason to skip this generation, considering also iCloud's abysmal free tier
