I’m always amused at people who complain about Apple or Cook being greedy or cheap. Their objective since day 1 has been to make as much money as possible. Calling them greedy is the enthusiasts’ way of justifying their $1,500 phone.

“It’s not my fault, mom. Tim Cook is a greedy bastard. Can I have $250 for new AirPods?”

Normal people don’t know. That’s a fact. All of us here know how many RAM has in an iPhone that we bought, that’s why we are enthusiasts. And 8 GB or even 6 is well enough for most folks who don’t even know what WebKit is.
Non-technical users might not know how much RAM their devices have. But they do notice when some shiny new feature won't work on their phone because of this limitation. Apple already had to drop features from some fairly recent iPhones like the flagship 14 Pro because of lack of RAM.

And now we are selling 12GB models as an upgrade over the 8GB iPad Pros from last year that already had 12GB inside. I'm actually surprised more of a fuss hasn't been made about this. Surely someone, somewhere is going to start a class action lawsuit?
I suspect it was only a minority of them that had the 12 GB, but that’s just a guess.

Anyhow, there’s nothing to sue about since Apple never advertised 12 GB.

Surely some creative law firm could sue Apple for not advertising what was technically possible and denying customers access to all the RAM they truly deserve? ;)

My Google Pixel 9 XL has 16GB of RAM in it and I don't even notice a difference. If anything, 120hz refresh rate on the screen made the biggest difference (coming from a 60hz iPhone). Point being, I think I'll notice a bigger difference from ProMotion than more RAM. I don't use the Pixel anymore, but YMMV.

I wish these memory sizes paired with these Mac chips

- M5 32GB
- M5 Pro 48GB
- M5 Max 72GB
- M5 Ultra 192GB
I don’t follow, are those baseline amount of RAM amounts you’re asking for?

I have a 128GB RAM M4 Max; I would expect Max SKUs having 192GB RAM without needing to buy Ultra SKUs.

Nvidia also does this as well for their highest tier SKUs.
