I think the point here is Apple could’ve upgraded the RAM on the 16 lineup to properly support Apple Intelligence, but because of the penny pinching decided not to because Tim thought the engineers would figure it out. Apparently, they did and the answer is you need 12GB.
Maybe. Or maybe the 12 GB is just a regular year over a year improvement that might be utilized in future software updates, but has no relation to the personal context features announced last year.

I guess the real question is has any AI feature actually failed on the 16 due to lack of memory. I doubt that. RAM is only rarely a work/not work matter but rather a question of performance. More memory may help the current AI features perform a bit better and especially may help with more advanced features that may come out in future versions of iOS.

Good to know about these very early rumors. However many things can change in between. This high performance memory, if it makes it to the 18 series will most likely be reserved for the Pro models.

If all models get 12GB, I think that would more or less confirm that AI needs 12GB. You know Apple wouldn’t give the base iPhone 17 a significant bump in memory resulting in increased costs unless it was absolutely necessary. Especially after just giving the 16 an increase in RAM.

It seems AI is the next big tech thing and although i will be buying a iphone 17 pro max & the 2027 anniversary model

I frankly do not care about AI as much i did for 3D TV & Ivision.

I wish they kept useful features like the anti reflective display on the iphone 17 or create one like that of the macbook pro.

isn't it too soon to give any update about iPhone 18? We are on our way to see the next iPhone 17 series, and some of us are already discussing iPhone 18!

Nah, its just funny how we barely know what the phone is going to do in 4 months, but people are reporting on ideas that they hope the phone next year might have.
Dude, this is a rumors site. MacRumors.

The rumors that they may receive from their various sources might be full of hot air, but that's what this website was created for.

Hate-watching a website during your breaks or to pass some time? Adults can do what they want, but that is strange to me.

Since I started on the Apple experience in early 1990, the QC seems to be less vigorous with some equipment never getting their issues working properly over the years. In my opinion, there is no excuse to carry the same software problems over many successive versions of full releases, not just point releases.

If Apple stopped buying back their stock, they would have adequate cash flow to hire those whose abilities are sorely needed in both hardware and especially software.

I think the motto of yesteryear that "It just Works" is becoming "We Hope it Works" with the advertised features from day one, not a year later. The early adopters are getting an unbaked cake and some years never ever get the frosting as the cake never finished baking.
