I would say it’s been different in my experience as most of the time people don’t usually even notice the time pass between models. « Didn’t they just release iPhone # and we are already on the next one? » I’ve heard this over and over again. It seems average consumers don’t follow Apple’s release schedule like we do on these forums. So them spreading it out even more and having, let’s say iPhone 18 Pro, while the 18 is nowhere to be found is going to, in my humble opinion, only complicate things even more. Are costumers really confused though? In my experience with average costumers (not tech enthusiasts), when they want/need a new iPhone they just go to the store and buy whatever the latest iPhone that's in their price range is, or whichever one catches their fancy in the store.
Here is a real-life scenario I’ve lived through and why I’ll avoid eSIM for as long as possible. My partner’s iPhone 11 had an eSIM, the phone just died one day, the motherboard just quit on him after 5 years. His number was tied to that phone. The carrier needed him to receive an sms on that number before releasing it from that eSIM. He ordered the physical sim which took two days to be shipped. Indeed, he could have gone to the carrier store and picked it up the next day. But in both cases, he was left without his number. So, while we all sing songs saying its technical progress and all, a physical sim can never be replaced nor can it be less convenient. My iPhone 13 mini is the last iPhone standing where one can install an actual SIM card. Thus, like in times past, it will get a UK carrier SIM card as they do NOT provide eSIM for short term, no contract "pay as you go" accounts. Thus the iPhone Air is a non-starter despite being a "neat" design and all as it has no SIM card capability.
The 13 mini now has iOS 26.2 installed so is still current in terms of operating system. Hope it can handle several more generations before being consigned to the historical and unusable pile.
Apple continues to leave uncountable numbers of folks out of their Apple eco system due to no SIM card.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max will probably hit the streets after our planned trips start so may have no pressing need for that model the following year.
But that kinda supports my point. Most people don't notice or care about the release cycle, and couldn't even tell you what number they're on, so I don't see how this is going to be any more confusing for them. The bottom line is that when they're ready for a new iPhone they'll just go to the store and buy the latest iPhone. When it came out or what number is in its name won't matter.I would say it’s been different in my experience as most of the time people don’t usually even notice the time pass between models. « Didn’t they just release iPhone # and we are already on the next one? » I’ve heard this over and over again. Doesn’t the battery increase tho? AI says it does (2~3 hours) That’s not enough for AI but certainly a start.
That makes no sense, but yes I was talking about the adaptive battery. Not quite sure what you're asking but if you're referring to adaptive battery, I can't tell that it does anything but the battery on this phone is incredible anyway.
