Screen time goes way down when you can’t grip it to pick it up off a flat surface. It’s a feature!

Wait… if the folding phone gets the ultra moniker, as we keep seeing rumored, will the 20th anniversary be the Extreme? This might get ridiculous. Lineup:

iPhone 19e
iPhone Air 2
iPhone 19
iPhone 19 pro
iPhone Ultra 2 (or iPhone 19 Ultra)
iPhone Extreme (or iPhone 19 Extreme)

The only thing I can see them actually using the edges for is the annoying “rainbow AI” effect when Siri is envoked.

Which… eww.

I guess 20 years is a big deal and curvy glass etc. But I'm still loving my discounted
iP-Air. Such a refreshing change after years of heavyweight Pro Max slabs.
Will there come a time when buyers say enough to $1500 --$2000+ Phones?
Probably not. I see BEast Buy has new Airs for $849... jusayin...

Think the 20th anniversary iPhone will be special and it is possible for it to have both FaceID and front camera under the screen. Maybe Apple will go for a higher price tag of around $1499 for the special 20th anniversary iPhone.

Curious how this looks. Should be change in smartphone market
My theory is that this will not be nearly as dramatic as the images, nor as people think. I think they are trying to reduce the bezels as much as possible. This won't be the screen rolling onto the side of the phone. It will simply be the screen extending to the edge, and the glass rolling to meet the side, very similar to the apple watch, but even less of a rolling edge. The want the screen-to-body ratio to be as close to 100% as possible. I think that's a great thing.

Sigh. Form over function rides again.

Bezels serve a purpose. I quite like to be able to pick up my phone or hand it to someone without activating a bunch of random functions - and the flip case I usually use would cover these edge displays anyway.
I agree. But I doubt, the edge area will be touch-active. It will give Apple the opportunity to expand on the Dynamic Island metaphor , i.e. active-screen-is-the-sea theme by referring to the edge area as “Static Shoreline” 😀😜
