Iphone 2.1 Dropping Tomorrow?

While I doubt it will be included in 2.1, the only thing I want is the ability to turn off the accelerometer. It annoys me to no end.

Testing is done. Do you really think they would keep testing it until Thursday night? What if they found a major glitch? Would they then make an announcement saying "Sorry, it's gonna be a few more days."? Apple doesn't do that. They said Friday because they feel it's as ready as it's gonna get, right now.

As for coming out tomorrow, the Genius obviously thought today was Thursday. A Genius has about as much inside info as your mom, unless a memo goes out to all employees, which is promptly leaked everywhere.

Why wouldn't they release it on Tuesday when they did the big lame "Event"?

One extra day wouldn't help much, but I agree about Apple not having any reason to release 2.1 one day earlier.

Apple would have one very important reason to release this right now: rescuing those of us who have been fighting application crashes for weeks. If it's really ready now, it ought to be released now.

This is great and all. I can see it now. Everyone siting at their computers all day tomorrow hiting the refresh in hopes to catch it as soon as it is available to download. Sure Steve said on Friday, but he did not say when. It could be Friday at midnight Cupertino time, or it could be Friday evening sometime for all we know. I want to know when!

I thought Apple were timing it so that the release of 2.1 Firmware would occur the moment the two particles collided in the Large Hadron Collider over at CERN. Thus sir you are incorrect IT IS THE END OF THE WORLD!

2.1 not downloading yet

It's now 12:15am here in Asia and it's there's no updating of the iPhone 2.1 software. With the iPhone plugged into my macbook, clicking "Check for Update" returns the message:

"This version of the iPhone software (2.0.2) is the current version."

Oh well.
