Stop trolling...

kthxbye!

I don't troll. I'm not the passive aggressive type (like most all PR people). I tell it like it is, and that's it. Again 2.1 is good..TY Apple.. but in the big picture its a massive failure and people are goo goo over something they should have got on day one. LOL :D

Though I agree that the stability should have been there from when the iPhone 3G was launched, at least Apple has promised to keep updating and also provide New features on a frequent basis.

I don't recall any fw updates or added new features on my previously owned phones ie. Sony Ericsson, LG, Samsung during my use of their phones and there were some stability issues. Nokia had 1 release for my E61 after 6 months of use and that was to fix some stability/bug issues. Nokia's N80 was plagued with bugs and I got rid of it after 8 months before they released a fw update many months later. What I'm saying is all phones have issues, but at least I have comfort in knowing Apple will address the iPhone (1st gen and 3G) bug/stability issues and also come out with new features to enchance user experience.

As for the update, aside from the stability/bug fixes, I'm liking the Genius feature and battery life. I've used the phone heavily today inlcuding the GPS/Maps. I visited a new area and a country park with my buddy and we could not find the BBQ place so the GPS/Maps helped after pulling up the my email which had a web link to the site location's homepage. The true value of the device was fully utilised today. He was very impressed...so was I.

2.1 is like Snow Leopard. Instead of adding new features, Apple has opted for reliability. I think this is great, because all the great features in the world are meaningless without reliability to boot. Definitely a hit.

And I think imacdaddy makes a great point. There really hasn't ever been a phone backed by a company that has been so willing to listen to its customers, and to provide nearly constant support, updates, and improvements (fixes or new features) like Apple has.

Stability first, upgrades second. All the functionality in the world won't be worth a steaming pile of poo if it doesn't "just work". Am I still upset that we don't have MMS, A2DP, alternate keyboard orientation, video recording, etcetera ad nauseam? Heck yes. Is it enough for me to give up on the iPhone and go with something else? Heck no!

Sad thing is, even "hobbled" (as many of us seem to think), the iPhone is still the best there is out there by leaps and bounds.

The stability that 2.1 has provided (thus far) has been excellent. Genius is, well, pure Genius in my book. It is shuffle on steroids the likes we've never seen before.

Kudos Apple. I'm content. Look into giving us a few more of the features we've been clamoring for either via update or through developers with the app store, and all will be right with the world.

Mac vs PC commercials for my iPhone

It's going to be funny as heck when Nokia, Sony etc etc.. Pick up on the next great commercial for a phone..

Just think of the Mac vs. PC TV adds applied to the iPhone. Hey iPhone..see how easy it is to MMS.. oops.. you can't, Ok.. how about no stings attached? oops...Sorry..ok ok I know you can copy and pas.......oops never mind...heh

2.1 as a stability fix, I agree it's a hit. :)
2.1 as added features = Unprecedented FAILURE.

EDIT: oh.. and yes its the best phone out there .... "for now"....

It's been a miss for me. I still am having issues with keyboard lag. I was able to get a screen shot of it doing it's thing.

Yes, I was joking in during this conversation.

That makes sense, I would change 2.0.1 to Alpha vers. 2, then 2.0.2 to Beta, then 2.1 Retail Release like you have.

Reminds me of how Ford advertises that the Focus has a lower PZEV rating than a Prius, even though their car only gets 34mpg and the Prius gets 45-60mpg. Those who have worse products try and find the one category where their product is slightly better and then they plaster that thing all over their commercials. Fortunately, only the stupid people fall for it. Most people can see through it.

The ONLY time that I have keyboard lag with 2.1 is if I start typing in a box before a web page has finished loading. Otherwise, I have had ZERO keyboard lag throughout, and for two days now since I updated. Can you tell us more about your keyboard lag?

I agree, and I am glad that my phone is stable now. :)

-after all, it is a phone, and we depend on it to be stable if we need to make calls if there is ever an emergency. I'd hate to be in an emergency predicament and grab my phone out of my pocket only to find that it is frozen or it says "no service" when there really is service - when I need to make an immediate phone call ! This is why stability comes first - because it is a PHONE! Remember ten years ago when cell phones first came out - a lot of people bought them for security, so that if they ever needed to make an emergency call, they'd be able to. What if someone breaks into your house and you grab your phone and press the "phone" icon and it had been on "contacts" and you have to wait for a 4 second "contacts lag" delay before you can click on "keypad" ?

A huge hit for me. The only problems I had with the 2.0.x firmware were the contact lag and Japanese language input delay. They both have been fixed with 2.1. What more can I ask for? :)

Battery is improved. Reception is better. And just now I noticed that Apple retuned the screen to match the 2G's brightness (less yellow), love it! :D

I'm happy for now ;), they improved the stability which is number 1 in my book. Now they need to work on some of the features.

I'm very happy with it.

Fixes lots of bugs, like slow backup, lagging keyboard, Safari seems to be a bit more stable and much improved battery life for me personally (even when before I never really complained).

It's a hit with me!

So far, so good. The contacts are not lagging, neither is my text. Most of the time, anyway. :)

The only problem I seem to have now is my with my Light application. I used it this morning since updating, and my brightness does not go back to its original setting. It just stays that ***** bright. I have to go into settings, then brightness and put it back. It's kinda annoying. And why use it? Because I dont wanna annoy my roomies with the bright a$$ lights. Any suggestions or anyone have this issue?

Thanks.
