I purchased my 2G iPhone on 13th September 2007 without asking my parents at the local AT&T store in Savoy, IL. The first unlock which took about 30 mins to go through wasn't out, but Engadget had a post confirming that it would be released in the near future.

Banking on that fact, I waited patiently for a few days till it was released and unlocked it on my Mac knowing fully well that it could turn into a $400 paperweight.

Now, more than 2 years after that day, my iPhone is still running great. Sure, its a little bruised up here and there after enduring many drunk nights in college, but its still serving me well.

I don't think I can ever go back to using any other phone now that I'm so used to the convenience and simplicity of the iPhone.

Kudos to Apple for engineering an excellent first generation device. I don't think many people can say that about the iPhone 3G and 3GS.

Currently, I have no plans of replacing my trusty iPhone unless something horrible happens to it.

    Thanks for reading!

If you're still on AT&T why not upgrade? $200 really isn't much for the increased speed, memory, etc., especially when you compare it to the price of contracts.

I still own my 2G. I have updated to the 3GS simply because the battery on my old 2G was dying, so I thought, what the heck.

2G served me with plain simpleness. I loved it. And still want its Al casing to come back.
