CRAP! Are we all previously jailbroken iPhone users screwed? It seems like most users with a percentage sign had jailbroken their phones before. What if something is wrong with our phone, and we have to go to the Apple Geniuses. They probably would see the percentage sign and see we have jailbroken. What would we do now?

Its easy to turn on (or off) if you have a Jailbroken Device, I am on a 2G phone so I can't tell you if it works the same for 3G but I would think it would, here's what I did:

1) Upgraded to 3.0, and broke out of jail ;)

2) Installed the latest sbsettings through Cydia.

3) Swiped from the top to pull down the sbsettings panel, and then tapped "More".

4) Tap Extras & Options

5) Swipe Numeric Battery to On and it should appear in real time with no respring needed.

6) Enjoy!

Hopefully this works for some of you, there is no way to do it without jailbreaking though.

As for taking it to an apple genius, simply restore to apples stock firmware and go see the Genius, or use sbsettings and turn the numeric battery off with that, they wont know the difference. :)

I´m a little bit confused out there about battery status and how to fix that.
My iPhone 3G was jailbreak before 3.0 and then I restored the phone before upgrade to 3.0. What do I have to do to get battery status? (percentage)

The "numeric battery display" is changed in OS 3.0 in an important way. Is there no way to show only the numeric value (without the '%' or the battery icon)? SBSettings did this in 2.x.

I have many icons in the top-right titlebar area, so now they become hidden because the battery indicator is more than twice as wide as it could be.
