The problem isn't with beta 2, beta 1 has expired.
Also, can the iPhone check the version to see if it is valid remotely, or does iTunes check when the iPhone is connected?

iTunes does the validation and checks the adhocs that are associated with your phone everytime you log in. I have 6 valid adhocs for beta testing and they are verified everytime i sync.

Beta 2

I have beta 2 and it has been working fine up until just now. Have tried restoring from Organizer, then syncing with iTunes, nothing. I just have the emergency screen

Possible Solution

Restore using beta 1, then upgrade back to version 2. Also what are the bundle numbers that you have for your builds?

There is a issue with the builds, seems that if you are running 7A238j you should/will have a issue. The correct build is 7A259G. Check via xcode and re-download the 3. beat 2 only, not the SDK. The corrective action would require Xcode, can not be down via iTunes

How did you switch back to 2.2.1 i'm stuck in beta 3.0,m please help!

Umm, technically when you installed 3.0b you agreed that you will stay in it and you acknowledge that you will be locked in if you install. So there is no way to *completely* downgrade. You can get the 2.2.1 firmware back by a jailbreak scheme, but you are not able to get rid of the 3.0b baseband. Sorry, but this was all stated in the agreement pre-install.

My non registered iPod touch 2G with 3.0 Beta 1 has expired. It gives me the connect to iTunes screen. Then when I connect it to my computer, the pc gives me an error.

Firmware 3.0 B1 expired on Friday April 10. The fix is to flash B2.

Really, you should only have 3.0 installed for dev or dev testing. I'm not really sure why a "black-market" firmware is interesting ... The build is unoptimized (slow), has bugs, and is a professional-battery-drainer.

Also - because these builds don't sit in QA very long, some pretty annoying things can (do) slip through. For example: if you happened to have your phone passcode-locked when B1 expired, attempts to flash B2 will fail. These are things that 2.x users don't need to worry about.

I know it's fun to try out the "latest & greatest". Once you've done that - and gotten over the disappointment - you can try a flash-back:

I keep reading reports of people's batteries draining on 3.0.. but mine is better than it was on 2.x.. ever since 2.1 I had to disable push because my battery was dying.. but I don't anymore.

Did you pay for the developer account? No, you thought you would be "clever" and download 3.0 from a torrent site, now you're stuck. Huh?
We aren't going to help you. (or atleast we shouldn't)

If this isn't the case then I apologize. If it is, then you shouldn't be helped at all. This forum is for help, yes. But I feel we shouldn't help people that don't read before installing a beta software release such as 3.0 knowing they have to enter their ID into the program portal. We paid $99 for an account(yes I do develop) and we shouldn't help the people that tried to cheat the system. Im just sick and tired of logging in to this great forum and seeing the iPhone forum trashed by threads "Help I bricked my iPhone" and its all associated with 3.0. Jailbreaking I can understand because its free. But when you cheat the system and get screwed you shouldn't be allowed to beg for help.
