I disagree. There is no way in hell that I would want an App on my phone called "Hot Girls" for my boss or mother to find. Nope! It would have to be something hidden on my phone before I would spend a single penny on it.

Not everyone has their boss or mother looking over their shoulder at their phone. And stuff like this is actually pretty tame. It's not actually THAT shameful to have on your phone (admittedly, I wouldn't do it).

Besides, there is a way to have it hidden - have more than eleven pages of apps when you install it.

But aren't there like 17+ erotic audiobooks on the iTunes Music Store?

Hmmmm. You're right about audio books and songs have obviously had explicit ratings in iTunes as long as I remember.

There are actually several "bikini" apps in the store already but no porn in the generally accepted definition - yet.

I really hope Apple doesn't create a brown wrapper section because porn is like polka...there are only about 15 people who buy it - but they buy ALL of it!

(And they never leave the house.)

Well you could always watch the P Hub for free on the Iphone, but I do approve of the adult apps. Not sure I can see myself buying one, but as a business model it makes sense for apple to have the option.

You want porn on your iPhone? Google it... there are probably dozens of iPhone-optimized sites.

Although I daresay porn apps will probably be fairly lucrative...

iPhone is not just a phone anymore. It is a platform to deliver media. (A small computer) And from your definition, every single computer company is in porn business.

Yes it is a delivery system for potentially ANY digital content, however the computer isn't IN the porn business any more that the credit card you use to buy it is in the business.

The company the DISTRIBUTES and PROFITS is in the business.

But now with the iPhone they can leave the house! :D

(that was supposed to be funny)

I seriously think Apple should ban porn from the App Store, and simply say "you have Safari, if you want adult content." .... and give us a hidden photo album in the Photos App.

It's about time. Not necessarily for the porn, but just for the fact that this will hopefully loosen restrictions on what apps can and cannot be accepted.

But the fact that the app comes from the App Store--an Apple-owned entity--means if there are any porn apps, it will give the image that Apple is condoning such apps. This is not a good image for Apple especially given the ad campaigns they have done for the App Store as a fun store with many useful apps and games. Most parents are still not savvy enough to set up parental controls.

"Want to be aroused? There's an app for that" doesn't sound too good.

I am Disappointed

So here is my two cents ... I don't have a problem with nudity or whatever, but I do have a problem if I start looking at the top 25 paid aps and 20 of them a adult related.

If Apple wants to allow this, fine, whatever, but it needs to be in its own section and not be part of the "featured" or "top 25 / 50s"

Nudity on the iPhone? Sex on the iPhone? Boy I hope this is locked deep in the bowels of the OS so Little Billy from Wisconsin doesn't accidentally stumble upon it, and gasp - - - maybe even masturbate to it! Could you imagine! The life he would inevitably lead after being exposed to such hormonal filth at such a young age. It almost makes me sick to think that everyone on this planet is the product of this grown up thing we call sex.

What about the "Staff Recommended" section. Haha.

To everyone that i speculating!

The Rules of the Limitations that Apple stated in the Apple March 6 Event of 2008 still applies !

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/iphoneroadmap/

Look at 01:07:50 and you se the limitations that is

NO that has/intruding on Porn, Mallicius, Illegal, Privacy or Bandwith hog.

This kind of App will never be approved or if they slip true they will be removed/deleted ...

This are good limitations and nothing that will change .

The parental control is a god thing!

Obviously it won't be. Could you imagine if it was? Probably not going to happen. The chances of seeing the top 50 iphone apps all being something along the lines of "iPublicBoobies" seems a bit weird. No? So, yeah, probably not gonna happen.

A line to be drawn...

I think we can all agree that this isn't porn, and thus doesn't conflict with Apple's new terms. So there is a little nudity in the app store... There is nudity and sexuality in the R rated movies on iTunes. I don't see any difference. Expect to see many more apps with Playboy level nudity if this doesn't get taken down. These apps will be golden, just watch.

Now, if apple starts allowing graphic pornography (ie. actual sex) on the App Store, that would shock me. It doesn't "bother" me personally, but I know that would anger a lot of people. That would probably be a dumb move on Apple's part... Yes they'd make money, but they would also get a ton of angry letters.

It needs to be pointed out that app developers nominate their own rating level when the app is published, not Apple. This relies on developers being responsible and honest about what their app is. The rating is incorporated into the signature of the app.

If people don't do the right thing Apple will no doubt call the experiment a failure, scrap it, and revert to only allowing PG apps.

I sure hope you are right. :)

If they allowed porn apps in the app store they would take in a windfall of cash. Plain and simple, like every other outlet for porn. It's a multi-billion dollar industry for a reason. Is it a good idea? Probably not. Will they they ever do it? No.

This is why we need both PUSH and PULL notifications, to keep things flowing, as well as to reduce the frequency of "pop-up" windows.
