I got to purchase my iPhone today and they literally touched it to plug it in to iTunes, held it a few seconds and unplugged it - I could have done it myself.
I opened my own box. The guys at Apple were very understanding, patient and easy going - despite of being busy all.
So far I haven't had much time to play with it, but I'm quite satisfied :D :)

Can't fault Apple

I strolled into my local, friendly Apple store this evening at 7:50pm. I patiently waited through the line. Finally, I'm up to bat. The Apple store employee I worked with was awesome! HOWEVER, after over two hours, I walked out empty handed.

He was unable to upgrade me because of an error message he received.... he called AT&T twice for help. AT&T was absolutely clueless on Apple's sales process. CLUELESS.

The Apple store employees made an educated guess on the problem (AT&T didn't have a clue). Because my billing zip code didn't correlate to my phone's area code, they could only add a new line, even after I updated my billing address online so that it would correlate with my area code.

Again, the Apple store employee was awesome, working with all the information he had, but couldn't sell me the phone. Now I have to wait until AT&T stocks more than 20 units a store (again, GOOD JOB AT&T) to upgrade my phone.

I love Apple. I love the iPhone, but AT&T's nazism over the activation process makes me want to switch carriers and get a blackberry (or buy an iPhone from overseas and jailbreak/unlock). &^$* you, AT&T. I was a loyal Cingular customer, but a buyout doesn't earn them the same loyalty.

So was anyone emotionally scarred today?

Those waiting in line for long amounts of time were.....until they actually got their iPhones
Those waiting for the 2.0 update were....until they actually got their 2.0 software

I was critical of Apple and the bricking of phones waiting for activation but I still love Apple :apple:
