They all look the same ...

Sorry for my curiousity, but he looks like a Chinese American?

I've always been curious to know how one differentiates a Chinese person from a Korean person or any other Asian person for that matter ?

[The forum's great and fair; many netizens in China are like. Most of the global mobile phone(iPhone) production in China.]

I grew up in New York City and am pretty good at telling different Asian origins. Plus their names are different from different countries.

Maybe you watch too much CNN

I wish I had CNN! Or even FOX NEWS. All I get is this crappy CCTV9 - China's only English station and quite sucky I might add.

These pictures are on my phone and from China. Notice all the goofy hand gestures the girls made. All these pictures are taken in the last 1-6 months.

V-shaped, in the hearts of Chinese children is the meaning of "victory" rather than "success".

It's pretty easy to tell for the most part.
Then again, I've lived in Asian on an off for over 20 years. :)

It's pretty straightforward to tell if you are looking at stereotypical people. There's a noticeable difference in the shape of the head, but not the coloring (Europeans tend to differentiate themselves heavily by hair and skin coloring, which is why Asians seem to look alike). Relatively speaking, Japanese people tend to have narrower heads and smaller mouths (hence the stereotypical "buck teeth"); Chinese have round heads; Koreans have wide foreheads. HOWEVER, in reality, these nationalities are far more racially mixed then any of them care to let on, so these are only rough guidelines. Of course, if you know their names, it's easy to tell; outside of a small overlap between Chinese and Korean names, they are very distinct.

Whatever you say...

Teaching in China

Dude, both these girls were my students in China...

One is 20 and the other 16. Fortunate for them they come from well to do families and will never see the inside of a sweatshop - unless it's owned by their parents...

How hard is it to get a teaching job in China ? Do they expect high qualifications ?
I was thinking about going over there to teach English or something (I don't have any formal English qualifications but working in IT) and check out the place at the same time. So have you been all round China ? Where would you say would be the best city to hang out. I've heard Dalian is good.

Getting a working visa / residence permit is not always easy in China. One way to do this is to agree to teach at a licensed school.

I teach business courses at a university for about 6 hours a week in order to satisfy the requirements to get the visa. In the other hours I contract with several companies to do standards checks on export producing Chinese factories.

I've been to numerous cities. My favorite is Hong Kong. Clean modern city. Very civilized.

Mainland is another story. Many cities in China are highly polluted and the inhabitants act like they have the intelligence level of somewhere between cavemen and dogs...

Decent cities to work and live are Shenzhen, Shanghai, Chengdu, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xiamen. I have been to all of them many times.

Shenzhen is a decent choice as the weather is good, decent transportation system, and fairly modern. And the close proximity to Hong Kong.

Shanghai is also very modern but the air is unbelievably polluted.

If you want to teach English it's pretty easy to get a job but the pay scale is laughable. Only come here if you want a working vacation or a hot young Chinese wife to take back to a civilized country.

This is what babelfish.yahoo.com translated:

Smiled in the move West's i-PhoneGirl not to have fire several days, between the media net actually already had sounds of the many question. The traditional conspiracy theory will suspect that the focal point refers to toward two directions: First, the iPhone handset's seller as well as the producer, the Apple Company and the Fuji Kang company, suspected that they possibly are borrowing i-PhoneGirl to hype its product; Second, the iPhoneGirl picture initial issue is US's some website, suspected that it is borrowing iPhoneGirl to hype its website. The question proposes many questionable points, for instance, picture background what whether is really the iPhone handset's Production workshop? Did the Fuji Kang company how possibly forget that erases the picture? The picture promulgator is an English or the American? Why what the British handset did demonstrate is American telecommunication operator and so on, even also has the overseas net friends to analyze iPhoneGirl through the three dimensional software the face skeleton to confirm its genuine and fake. Although these question some are truly very earnest, some are purely after false card false - - for instance that demonstrated the American telecommunication operator's picture is originally shoots, but has manifested the public to the i-PhoneGirl event's care, has manifested the media question spirit. The people did not hope that again the quilt “the false appearance” is moved, did not hope that finally was proven oneself has wasted the sentiment. In fact, so far, did not have any strong evidence to be able to prove that the iPhoneGirl event is a fraud, then, the long pig search should go to the key point these most essential place: For instance, goes to the Fuji Kang company to verify on its production line to have this female worker; Verifies this picture by mistake to save on the handset, only need prove that the female worker does not exist, the misunderstanding does not exist, then rewrites about the iPhoneGirl story's opening. In my opinion, regardless of the genuine and fake, the iPhoneGirl story will henceforth not vanish how into thin air, these arguments with difficulty will also deny its behind reveal these are friendly and are beautiful. Really from does not need to raise, even if iPhoneGirl is false, is moved these the world's person as well as their message by the iPhoneGirl story actually cannot assume, this is just like is a piece of fable, the fable always does not matter the genuine and fake, so long as the truth is really good; Is also just like is a movie which the Chinese Shenzhen's hiring out for working younger sisters shoot, the movie may attest to falsity, but is moved by the movie person's sentiment is actually unable to attest to falsity. Regardless of being “the beautiful misunderstanding”, has a mind hyping, resembles the novel, once completes, already was separated from author's control, these already could not affect iPhoneGirl to be vivid finally, by this story's being lucky as well as the i-PhoneGirl smiling face, we may see the globalization as before these beautiful places: The commercial contact causes the people to leave unprecedented near, the people need to be together harmoniously, the people can be harmonious, the people are being together harmoniously, within the four seas, all brothers!

Thanks for the detailed info, especially the associated incentives.
Nice photo and she probably wouldn't mind, she would be proud to be associated indirectly with iPhone Girl !

I've always been curious to know how one differentiates a Chinese person from a Korean person or any other Asian person for that matter ?

It's not easy to distinguish koreans and Janpenses from Chinese, they look alike, I believe we can only differentiate by our feelings.

Actually it can be quite hard to tell northern Chinese from Koreans. In the west we tend to see more of the southern variety, and the differences are more obvious.

Interesting fact: there are 3-4 million ethnic Koreans living in China, including close to 1 million expats from South Korean. (source: Wikipedia)

AFAIK, he is Korean-American

Thank you, Sushi.

There are lots of Koreans in my community: they work for korean companies in China.

It seems they enjoy drinking a little bit.

Arnold Kim

MacRumors.com网站的拥有者和站长。

  www.

  www.

MacRumors.com网站从事的就是类似业务。

This thread needs to go to the wasteland....absolutely irrelevant to macrumors now and the complete debate about how Chinese, Korean and Japanese people differ in their looks is completely off topic and can be considered racist not educational because it does not really matter.

That was interesting, Markerz, What is the source for the Chinese info you quoted, is it a forum, a Chinese blog, an online newspaper, something else??
