It is important that! This is not her shooting

All along I've been wondering to myself, who the heck is this girl's brother?!?

Really Kewl! :D;)

I hope she's fine and not too depressed about this whole stuff!

P.S.: Though I suggest you should keep low about this!

My sister said she will not be in charge of Faqian, because: It is important that! This is not her shooting, her colleagues in the shooting, that she is not testing the phone, she has nothing to do with responsibility.

[I do not speak English school, I am sorry]

Correct me if I am wrong, but how can the "phone girl" have a brother or sister when there is a one-child policy in china?

And "mnsch" do you have different pictures, those two pictures are already floating around the net. Little hard to believe you are who you say you are.

No offence....

I'll ask my Chinese language tutor, she's 30 years old and has 5 brothers and sisters. :p

But I strongly suspect brothers and sisters are created the same way all over the world. :D

LOL... Not what I mean but funny hehe.....

From what I found out parents are only aloud to have one child, due to the population... But they do have more out in the country, but the Chinese government will not recognise the second child... Something like that...

However two people from single child families can have two children as china kind of relaxed the rules....

Yes, there's a one-child policy in China, but as my friend's family (they come from a rural area) shows, you CAN find people who have more than one child. ;) So it's possible our iPhone girl can have sibs, and even more than one.

Thats cool, Thanks for clearing it up ;)

Anyway, "mnsch" will need to upload more pictures or have some other proof that he is who he says he is. Anyone can make that clame.

Who are you, the Chines Gestapo? They don't need to prove anything to you (or us) Its clear maybe they want to be left alone.

We think the iPhone girl is fun. She probably thinks the whole thing is a nightmare. Just leave her alone. :)

My first girlfriend in China had 3 sisters and 1 brother. She was 19 and her 2 sisters were younger, 1 brother and 1 sister older.

She came from the country and they were farmers.

Their parents had 5 children. Illegal under the then current and present Chinese regulations.

But in China laws exist on paper only... The rich are not subject to the laws, and the poor suffer under corrupt administration of these laws.

Iphone girl will never have the chance to go to college in China.

To go to college means you have to get a decent score on the college entrance exams which are given in high school - and you have to be able to pay. She makes about 1200 rmb a month. A cheap college cost 4000 rmb plus a year.

Like the majority of factory workers she most likely comes from a poorer part of China. They bus them in on a daily basis to fill vacancies in factories and whorehouses.

At least she didn't wind up in a Chinese PINKHOUSE like many others...

I think you've been watching too much CNN...

Iphone girl will fade

The iphone girl was likely discussed at the highest government and corporate level. They likely made a decision to quit while they are ahead. In other words, suppress any further information about her simply because if the truth is known about her wages (likely lousy), her age (likely 15 or 16), her working hours (likely 70 hours a week), her living conditions (likely lousy), there will be a backlash and iphones will cost $100 more to remedy. I visited China in 2006 and 2007 and you will be surprised that there are rich chinese, a growing middle class but the majority are still the working poor. Her job appears to be repetitive so she is likely in the working poor category. She looks too young to be an educated professional. Conclusion: I smell a cover-up. The story about her being afraid of the media may fake. She has the smile like the Mona Lisa. Like the Mona Lisa, we may never know her name.

the girl is so cute and love. her factory(foxconn ) near our comapny. most worker of foxconn is teen 17-22 years old girl. when then morning i just only see girl go into foxconn. i think you can see so many girl so young girl except in foxconn. over 200 thousand.....lol :).:D:)

Thank you for posting. I am glad to hear that she is well.

Accidental celebrity is commmon in America and probably less common where you are. You can be sure that everyone here will have moved on to something else next week, and she will go back to being anonymous.

Best of luck.

I believe in China it's as common as that in America: Internet is so powerful.

Correct me if I am wrong, but how can the "phone girl" have a brother or sister when there is a one-child policy in china?

As others have noted, there are exceptions to the OCP. Firstly, the OCP was introduced in 1979, so the other poster who mentioned their 30-year old tutor having 5 siblings is not that out of the ordinary (assuming they're all older siblings). Secondly, the OCP does not apply to recognized ethnic minorities. Parents who both come from a single child family can have two. Also, divorce and re-marriage can result in one having half-siblings. In rural areas it can be easier to get away with breaking the OCP, and in the big cities the rich may choose to pay the "fine" to legitimately have a second child.

But in this case, I think the questions about the OCP are totally irrelevant. In China, it's common practice to refer to one's first-cousins as simply "sister" and "brother", even though the Chinese language does make a distinction between cousins and siblings. You will notice that the first photo posted by mnsch has the caption "...at my home" which implies that they do not live in the same household. Of course, there could be many reasons why they don't live in the same household, and we could get into further discussions about this but I'd rather not in order to respect their wishes for privacy.

I think you've been watching too much CNN...

Actually - he's closer to the truth than anyone on this board so far (that I've seen - and I admit to not reading all of the posts)... the busing in part may not be actually the case (the factories I've been to and work with have the workers lining up to get in) but the rest is pretty much spot on based on my experiences working and travelling to China over the past decade...

So maybe instead of making comments on things you don't understand or know and assume everyone is as ignorant as you and will think your flippant comment about CNN is funny - learn a little more then come back and make intelligent comments and dialogue with people who know perhaps a little more than what they read on the internet or watch on your trusty CNN.

Come on, guys...she's at least 19...Asian girls always look younger...I was even asked which grade I was in junior high when I was actually in my first year of uni...

Poor girl....just had a look at a few chinese websites...she's scared of the attention from all over the world and wanted to quit the job and go back to her hometown...her bf is asking not to try to release her identity... my...her life is so gonna be changed.....

I got a news from a Chinese website, it says that this thread starter is the webmaster, he is actually an American instead of a british, he hooked this new up in a purpose to promote MacRumors.

It was kind of unbelievable, can anyone help me out?

They are wrong on so many accounts:

- I didn't go to northwestern university, and I'm not a professor in california. they found the wrong "Arnold Kim" on the internet.
- The photo they used with the AT&T logo is not what was posted by markm49uk. A news organization put the photo on their AT&T iPhone and took a photo of it to avoid copyright issues with republishing the photo itself. The original photos can be seen in the forum thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/547777/
- Someone did contact MacRumors.com, NOT markm49uk. To which I replied. Of course, since it was sent to me and I replied. The reporter/person who sent it apparently doesn't understand how forum software works and thought they had emailed markm49uk.

I'm always amazed by people who can read chinese, the characters are so detailed and hard to differentiate, at least to me. If you can't read that and you just put it in translate.google then I am equally amazed that you can read that incoherent dribble!
