that's what i was thinking. i took another look at the black when i watched the commercial, and i think i might go with the black afterall.
Are you guys SURE that the 16 GB model comes in black. From what Steve said, it sounded like 8 GB is black and 16 GB is white. He said "And for the 16GB, we have a white model". He didn't say "we have a white model TOO"
Maybe I missed something. Anyways, I WAS going to buy a white one because I want the 16 GB HDD and then hope that some vendor comes out with a slick case/skin to cover the blandness of it. But, if you guys are right, then I'm definitely buying a black 16 GB one.
The white one isn't as polished, design-wise as the black. Mainly the contrast of the color vs. logo. The black has a nice white apple logo to balance it. The white model has a WHITE/silvery logo...hard to see. It would have made more sense to have a black logo on the white model.

Its weird how the pictures of the white model on Apples site show the logo being silver/white, but reporters photos at the conference have it with a black logo. If it does indeed have a black logo, I may consider getting the white one. Looks a lot better:

I am definitely going to get the 16gb. When I first saw the black I thought black all the way, but white has been growing on me. Black looks sleeker but the white is more feminine (yes I am girl) and only available with 16gb, so that means less people will have it. I just don't want the white one getting dirty after using it for 15 minuters. I will for sure have to see them both in person but I would say its a tie right now......

The Apple logo is just a mirror finish, exactly the same as the current model! It's colour depends on what it is reflecting 😉
white for the very girly reasons that a) it matches my macbook and b) i'll be able to find it in my bag
wish the front was white as well for the white version... looks really awkward with a white backside, and black face.

I can't decide. Generally I would prefer white, but it looks so odd because the front is black. If the front were white I would get white without a doubt. Right now I'm leaning towards black. I may change my mind once I see one in person, but if I get one at launch then I probably won't have that opportunity before I make my decision, so I'll probably just go the safe route and get black.
personally, i'm probably going to ruinin by sticking it in a cover so whatever they have in stock.. but if i have the choice....

The logo is reflective, so in some photos it's going to appear black, in others, white. It's shiny, and the lighting affects the perceived color.
I prefer the black one, though I kinda like the current metallic back best.
Something to consider with the white backing: if you slip a white iPhone into a colored, semitransparent protective case, you could change it to any color. The white will show the color better.

hmm I dunno. From the renders I think the black looks much better, but then again at the same time I kinda want to get the white so i can 'show off' my new 16 gb 3G iphone... haha

Black looks way better. I wish they made the 8GB white and the 16GB black, because everyone will have the much better looking black one!
Me too ^^^^ If the 16gb was available in only black I would get that one without even thinking... but I have to see them both in person.
