The white looks nasty on the internet. I bet it looks better in person but id still get the black.

Wow, all you guys saying that white smudges too much is not what I had expected at all. I don't know if i can compare but for reference I have a white macbook and black Ipod. The I pod shows every little smudge, while the macbook has stayed looking pretty clean.
That said, I'm still getting black. But I'm such a clutz with phones that I will have to put a skin of some type on it so i don't think it will matter anyway for me.

Black. Stays cleanier and is sexier.
Black is a fingerprint magnet and shows every imperfection and scratch.
I'm going with the White.
I'm getting white. It harkens back to my 'classic' 3rd generation touch iPod. Ah, how I miss that device.
Black is undoubtedly classy. But the whole black and chrome scheme seems to look like every other phone on the market. It doesn't exude the smug "think different" charm that apple has represented in their products and in a way how we sometimes wish to be perceived through using them.
Black reminds me of Darth Vader, shiny... black ....plastic. Darth Vader, issss pretty sexy though, but maybe it's because there's only one Darth Vader. If the polls are right, there's about twice as many Darth Vader phones as there is stormtrooper phones and that doesn't make Vader seems as sexy anymore.
Deep in my heart I want to be Darth Vader, I can't lie to myself, it Does look better. Sure, I'm the less exclusive one. But it doesn't matter anymore, because I know deep down inside, I'm the real Darth Vader, and all of you are just copying me.
so you know... I don't need to get a white iphone to be special. I just need to convince ALL of YOU to buy white ones.

whoa.....my appologies. after doing a google search and seeing live pics of the white 3G (not the photoshopped version on apple.com), the white is butt ugly! gonna have to go with black and deal with finger prints.
Originally, it didn't even occur to me to consider the white. Then I heard everyone saying that the black would show scratches and fingerprints, etc., so I was starting to change my mind. Now, after looking at the white in the gallery, I have to go back to my original choice of black. If they had made the front of the white phone match the back, I would probably like it better, but I am not digging on the three-tone look (black/chrome/white).

100% White. Can't even think to imagine the amount of scratches and fingerprints that would show up on the black model.

. The only and first all touch controlled iPod (the iPod touch still has the real home and power button).I'm most likely going with Black. I have a white incase case while my dad has the black one and his black case makes his phone look smaller than my phone with the white case. So ill have to see in person, but probably be 16gb black

Black. At first, it was white, but I got to thinking about it. I use to have a blue ipod, and it got dirty a lot. Even with a cover. My current black ipod isnt too bad, just lots of smudges. I guess i can live with it, and get a case, for sure.

I'm going with the black 16GB version. I think if it was white also in the front, not just in the back, I would have bought the white one. It just looks weird now.
It's all about personal taste, but I'm totally getting the white. Have no idea what makes people think it looks more feminine, or even what that really means, but I love the white. It's something different... and it's still black on the front anyway. It wasn't long ago that most iPods came in white, and the color wasn't a big deal then...

I was all for the white but I lost my Sena case and picked up an Incase Slider in white to keep it in good condition until sell time. I agree now that the white back with no white on the front doesn't look right. So I'm pretty sure I'm going for the 16 GB Black.
