!8 GB iPhone Micro not Working

Hi I have just bought the 18 GB 3 G iphone which is locked to Movistar version 2.2 and the first time I used it no one can hear me. I have not tried it with the headphones yet and have bought it from ebay with no reciept so looks like I have been screwed. I will try and find out how to re load the operating system to see if it that, but hell I can't because it is locked to Movistar!!. The only other alternative is to see if it has been registerd or maybe by the serial number the carrier Movistar have the warranty details. If anyone has any ideas it would be a big help. PS I have the original box and serial number!!!!
 
I think your problem is more frequently than mine.
iPhone's and iPhone 3G's has this known problem.
Try to make a call with headphones from a friend and see if it works. If it does, I think your problem can be solved quite easily.
Try to plug and unplug your headphones for a few times, gently clean inside the headphones jack with a dry earbud or something... and see if your microphone pin gets back on his normal position.

i have been having the same issue

...but with mine, people can always hear me on a call.
but i can't record a voicemail greeting, and none of my apps what that need a mic, i.e. guitar tuners, autotune, RJDJ, SoundHound....
it make no sense to me. I have already returned my phone within the first year, and I did not get the insurance for after that. does this count as a new year? I want to get the iPhone 4, but I am waiting...what do you suggest?
 
I had same problem and bad service at Apple store.

Today I found out that my iphone's microphone is not working... I need to use the handsfree so people can hear me. Can I fix this or is dead?... help!...:(

I am in Australia I have an Iphone 4, just bought it. But the microphone is faulty. After long waited on the phone to talk to someone in Philipine, try to get some technical help but wasn't successful. I was advised to take my Iphone 4 to apple to get the new one. I was advise, I have to make appointment so when I turn up the new iphone 4 will be ready to pick up. However after arranged my work, take one hour on the taxi and arrive at apple store in Chermside Australia, even I had an appointment and arrived on time but I still have to wait more than 30 minutes to get service, and keep waiting until the guy come out and told me that they didn't have an Iphone 4 for me. I told him I made appointment and I was guarantee that I will have an Iphone 4 for me today. The guy looked at me say "We don't have any reponsibility with whatever the staff in Philipine said". I said took the taxi here, and it costs me money everytime I come here, it took me nearly an hour. You know what he said to me "Why did you take a taxi, you can take the bus, you were lucky, someone drove more than four hours to come here and I still said no phone" Up to this point I think I had enough, I told him "you know, just only a phone call away you should let people know that you don't have a phone so you can save a lot of time for your customers, because of the devote customers you have a job, instead of being so cocky now", without apology he said, "I don't have a phone for you to exchange, we will call to the in the next two days when the phone arrive, and I have been waiting for long time, no one has ever called me yet". I asked him why my iphone is not qualified for a case program? he said " we don't know, we don't have any control in America, that's America job" I asked him, is there any direct line number that I can call this store instead of talk to someone in philipine and you are not reponsible for their work, do you know what he said to me "that the way our telephone system, the guy in the back who answer the phone is not properly trained to answer these things" I was so shock about the service. I will wait to see how long it takes until they call me for the new Iphone, may be a year, until the warranty is out of date then they can say it is not their responsibility anymore. An Apple store with extremely high tech, and still have these extremely basic communication problems. I think time for us to think many times before we buy apple products. Please share your experience with apple service.

dont worry, what i have done, is just sold my iphone, and buy another good deal on craigslist its simple, dont worry, just sell it, then buy another one, you might loose a few bucks, but iphones rock!!!

Apple warranty, usually is CRAZY good! I once sent one it, and within 3 days, i had a iPhone back, but it was BRAND NEW!!!!!!
