You can in Canada...
yea well the majority of the people here are at&t, but yea my 'mistake'
You can in Canada...
Perhaps they fixed it at one point with a firmware update? Because this is exactly what I did when I got an iPhone and it worked fine after some turning on and off and waiting. You can't do this with the old iPhone, so I can only assume that you won't be able to do this with the iPhone 3G.
So at what speed did it start to studder at? Is it not real time when u are just walking?![]()
Do you think thats the case because google maps doesnt have the maps stored locally and fetching the data while the GPS is pinpointing the location is causing this studder?
Could you do a more detailed analysis of the durability of the black plastic. Maybe slide it a bit over concrete. (I knoow, I know, this sounds horrible... but c'mon, in the name of science!)
I haven't managed to read all this thread yet, but I would like to know:
What happens when you remove those mystery screws?!
Uh but I have a question... *broken record* Is there finally a character counter (or a message counter) for SMS?
How quickly did the GPS "lock on target?"
Is it actually as fast as the guided tour shows?
Can you pop out the SIM and put in another AT&T SIM with a MediaNet plan and will it work with data and all? With the original iPhone this was the case although sometimes you had to reboot the phone.
Is there an option to disable data so you can only access it via wireless? (if you didn't buy a data plan)
My blackberry used to do that with googlemaps, but was perfect with telenav.
I think Phil got busted!![]()
Or he just decided to take a break from all of you...![]()
I already said that UK news reviews say GPS works brilliantly!
It probably is just down to bad signal where you are and not the iPhone!
Do you see any reference to using the iPhone as a remote for iTunes? If so, where and how do you control it?
It's good to hear the back is pretty scratch resistant. Anyone know about the front/screen? Seen videos on YouTube of people running keys across the front of the old iPhone without any scratches...
Thanks. *And yes, sorry to go back to the scratching issue! Just deciding if it needs a case/protective film etc. Someone mentioned it comes with a pouch though...
Does that mean I cannot transfer my contacts from my N95 to the iphone 3G? This is a major problem, might actually put many people off from buying...
I have a question about the push e-mail, is this just for people that get the business data plan from At&t, or is it going to be for everyone w/the new 2.0 upgrade?
It'll be for anyone using Microsoft Exchange or Mobile Me. As far as I know, Apple (iPhone) doesn't currently support any other push services (gmail is IMAP).
Yahoo! Mail is push and has been since the launch of the original iPhone.
its data because the SDK doesn't allow access to the SMS client
Bluetooth is limited on the iPhone so you can't do much with it.
iPhone "Remote" App available in App Store
In addition, SMS messages move over the voice line.
Since the AIM client only has access to the data side, it would take a freakishly horrific act of AT&T evil, to end up paying for it.
This would mean AT&T went WAY OUT OF THEIR WAY to somehow get in on the action.
I get that it's a business but....c'mon.
When the AIM client is released, I wonder if it will come with small print, stating it can only be used over wi-fi.
