That sucks the GPS is slower like that. I have a Tilt and it works perfect in the car. I bet it is limiting the power to the GPS chip and antenna to save battery life.

Yeah, I agree.. I was hoping this would be a viable replacement to my Car NAV which I could sell for $1000. Oh well. :(

Forget all this other fluff and crap. Apple for the love of god why o why could you not learn from the past and make this new iphone LOUDER so we can atleast hear the freakin ringtones! Especially for us folks that work outdoors or in louder environments....sheesh. I might just hold on to my current iphone. Really disappointing.

I already said that UK news reviews say GPS works brilliantly!

It probably is just down to bad signal where you are and not the iPhone!

Do you see any reference to using the iPhone as a remote for iTunes? If so, where and how do you control it?

I thinks it's very smart that a rep from Apple has already gone on record stating that the GPS is "Pretty slow"

Puts things in perspective.

Frankly, I Don't think it's necessary to have it track a map in realtime. Others may disagree.

Bluetooth is still cripled right? Anyone think this will change, by an app ou some modification? This thing about bluetooth is holding me back on buying one iphone...
Thank you

im hoping that the iphone will do GPS well enough for in car use because that is the main reason im going 3g. however whats awesome is that with a fan discount im pretty much getting a free update.

As I mentioned before you can turn the GPS off and on. I answered this also.

I think he was referring to whether GPS automatically reverts to a "power save/off" when no apps that use it are open... (like maps, photo geo-tag, etc.) or does it just continue to run in the background constantly and drain battery. I suppose there is no way to know unless you left GPS "on" and then didn't use any of the GPS apps for a day and compare that to turning GPS "off" for the day. These types of comparisons will probably have to be done after we all have ours... (counting down the hours... can't wait!)

What do you mean it is crippled? I am sorry, I am new to this discussion...

My understanding is yes, still crippled... no Data Connect (modem mode), no stereo bluetooth headphones. Really a bummer. :(

It's very limited, only lets you use it for BT headsets, and don't let you use it for share files between phones or computers...

Yes, because it's really a basic thing and should be in a phone like this and with this price...If apple doesnt want us to send/receive music, at least let us share photos, our photos, theres is no copyright infringement with that...

It's good to hear the back is pretty scratch resistant. Anyone know about the front/screen? Seen videos on YouTube of people running keys across the front of the old iPhone without any scratches...

Thanks. *And yes, sorry to go back to the scratching issue! Just deciding if it needs a case/protective film etc. Someone mentioned it comes with a pouch though...

Does that mean I cannot transfer my contacts from my N95 to the iphone 3G? This is a major problem, might actually put many people off from buying...

Perhaps others can confirm but I don't think it's possible to transfer contacts. The "bluetooth profile" or functions the iPhone "offers" are limited to headset AFAIK. Definitely a bummer... my wife is able to "wirelessly tether" her phone to her Laptop when out and about, really nice and keeps you from having to buy a separate card and wireless plan for 3G on the laptop.

I just use a big rubberband and strap it around my head 24/7 near my ear. I never miss calls anymore. :p

Yeah, they obviously want us to share things like photos using MobileMe or something (since no bluetooth sharing or MMS... I suppose you could always email...)

Maybe that's why they don't "free" bluetooth...
I could email it, but for phone to phone it's more difficult, because here everybody uses pre-paid cards, only companies use contract's, except now with the iphone, but i would get without contract to use the pre-paid card since the contract prices/conditions are "ridiculous". So the lack of BT file sharing is more noticeable and more "serious"...
