LMFAO!

Do you also keep a rotary dial phone for making calls and other basic stuff? :D

Don't be absurd. What I mean is that messaging on my Japanese phone is superior to the iPhone, and I'm not interested in reduced features and messages full of geta symbols just because Apple couldn't be troubled to do it right.

iPhone isn't selling well in Japan because it's not a Japanese product.

what do you guys not understand? The iPhone is just as sold out here as it is in the states. Everyone that knows what an iphone is wants one. This thread is just so funny because the people that live in japan (like myself) are saying that the iPhone is popular, and all the people in the states are saying (including some that don't even have an iPhone) are saying that it isn't. You guys are funny.

O by the way this was typed up while was sitting on the john, on my iPhone that bought in.... You guessed it, Japan.

The iPhone may be in sold out in Japan - but this could be a supply issue rather than strong demand. This article estimates that 25k iPhones were sold over the opening weekend, which is comparatively low considering Japan's population. When I recently visited Japan I noticed that unlike Europe most people own flip phones and that there were noticeably less iPod earphones around (e.g. on the Tokyo subway compared to when traveling on the London underground).

Yes they are. :)

Funny how folks who don't live here think that they have a clue.

Sheesh, I know what you meant! I don't agree, and I can be absurd if I like. It's called "being facetious."

I find a little joke is more pleasant than some of the fanboy snobbery often displayed on this board, don't you?

Not surprising at all--US-designed gadgets/electronics have never been successful or popular in Japan. Just look at the video game console market.

Listen! Even my wife and Japanese parents-in-law want one!!

Don’t be silly. iPods sell extremely well (best seller of all mp3 players) and, er... it is not a Japanese product. In fact, if I recall, made by the same people who made the iPhone!

I don’t know about that. I am originally from the UK and travel alot to London and also travel to Tokyo alot. I see quite alot of white earbudded travelers on my journeys. Also, there is an amazingly vast choice of earbuds in Japan, so I guess many will also be using their own non-white brands too.

Also the fact that it doesn't come in a pink Hello Kitty version prevents it from being popular with the teenage girl set--if it's not pink, it's just not cute enough ;).
