I have an auction about to end and the winning bidder has zero feedback.. my quesiton is:

Do I have to send the invoice to the winning bidder? and / or could I request that she pre-pay for the iPhone before I send the invoice? I've had situation like this before with eBay and basically they do nothing to help you if a buyer doesn't pay.. you can't even leave them negative feedback.

Your thoughts?

I am giving you an honest assessment of your situation. The bid is from a new user with 0 feedback that is likely a scammer trying to take advantage of you.

Seriously bidders won't buy from you when there are literally hundreds of other phones available. Even if you do sell your phone, it will be far below the average sales price.

jshort, the invoice is irrelevant. You don't have to send it. When they win the auction, they know they gotta pay for it. I never send invoices and the buyer pays regardless. Case in point, I sold my iPhone 3GS a few days ago and the buyer paid immediately. I never sent an invoice. After the auction, the winner has to pay... the invoice has nothing to do with it. It's more or less a reminder for them to pay you or if you've agreed to special terms which required charging more, you would send an invoice. If you're worried about it, cancel his bid and block him.

... and my approach to selling iPhones is different from the suggestions here. I do a fixed price auction... no bidding. There's ALWAYS someone who wants to buy instead of bidding. Every iPhone I've sold to date, I've always listed with a Buy It Now and it always sells. My 3GS sold within 3 hours for $450.

Feedback is extremely important. I wouldn't buy from someone with 1 feedback if I could buy from 100 other people with more. Your chances may have been better with a Buy It Now. It also wouldn't hurt to explain in the description that you have little feedback because you just don't use eBay that much and assure them you are completely honest and aren't scamming anyone. I used to do that all the time when I just started using eBay and still managed to sell high ticket items for good money.

Secondly, as mentioned, pictures are CRUCIAL. The more angles, the better. The more detailed, the better... and including a sheet of paper with your username on it definitely helps.

I'll take a little beating on selling mine later so Im not without it, for even a day! :apple:

Me too. Once I find out exactly what the launch date is of the new one, then I'll list my 3GS. The thought of attempting to downgrade to a dumbphone (even if I had one on vacation with me, and I don't) makes me shudder.

i wasnt trying to sound like a jerk. i appreciate all the comments here, positive or negative, as they all have attempted to be honest. theres nothing i can do abt my feedback, at least in the short term.

I'm planning on selling (or trying to sell) my 3G on ebay as well once I get the upgrade. I have never bought or sold ANYTHING on eBay though, so I'm considering having my friend who uses eBay a lot post it through his account. Just a thought.
