Out of stock nationwide my ass. Stock has once again increased according to the availability checker.

Beg to differ....

Just checked availability in my area (Delaware); the Apple Store at the King of Prussia Mall (in suburban Philadelphia) has all phones in stock for tomorrow (including the 16G black phone.)

That's excellent news, because that's MY area too (but I live in Delaware and refuse to drive up to KoP and pay sales tax)! So, my options are Christiana Mall and the AT&T store on 202. Tomorrow's the day, so I'll be checking!

Dela-where?

Wonder if they'll waive the sales tax if you produce a Delaware driver's license?

I was in the Christiana Mall store on Saturday a.m.; they had everything but the black 16G...but there was a line of customers out the door and down to the food court when I got there at 10 a.m. When I checked availability last night online at 10 p.m., they had nothing for today. Nothing.

BTW, what ever happened to the infamous Apple "Personal Shopping" appointment! And that $99 a year I pay to be a ProCare customer should get me some priority besides first up at the Genius Bar, which was the reason for my Saturday visit. And when I asked the "genius" if they had any 3G units, he acted like he'd never heard of the phone! Turned to a non-genius and asked: "Do we have any of those?" hehehehehe, maybe he really is a genius and doesn't want to get involved in this insanity at all!

This too shall pass. I got my first edition iPhone in late July 07 and the world didn't end. I still love it...and am wondering if I really need to upgrade from something that's working so darned well.
