Woohoo!

Even though I ordered my AT&T phone at 10am June 13th, the order has now shipped and is being delivered Thursday to the store! Should be able to pick it up Friday! NICE!

i didn't mean ordering two phones on one number... I'm a new att customer porting a number from verizon. What i want to know is if i can order two iphones from apple under my name and ssn and then one the arrive give her one to activate under her acc that she owns. Or do both have to be activated under the name officially ordered under from what i remember from the 2g iphone

2g phone rules are over. forget them. wipe them from your mind.

I was just on the phone with the Apple store last night about ordering phones. here is the gig.

when you order a contracted phone (ie, anything less than the $499-699), the account info and phone imei, sim card number etc are linked so that when you plug the phone into itunes, the system has the info to activate it, start the port from verizon etc.

if the two phones will be on a family plan, they go under the name of the master account holder. if the phones are under individual plans (with ATT) then each of you must order separately under your own name and SSN

ATT sucks when it comes to shipping updates. Call them and F them on the phone! I called ATT Premier to ask for an update and the rep was soo dumb she had no clue what's going on with ATT orders. She (Ashley - Business customer care) says, the iPhone 3G S is not released hence, they don't have information till it is released! What the hell does Pre-Order mean? She then says, oh then it will be shipped 'like' 19th or something! This is her lingo on the phone, very professional?!

Best bet, keep calling them and please expect atleast 2~3 holds before they can give you any 'meh' information!
That is exactly why I always order from Apple. Customer service is at LEAST 1000% better, & they always know what they're talking about. AT&T screws up everything they touch, so I do as much business through Apple as I can, regarding the iPhone.

It was impossible for AT&T to give shipping updates until they arrived at their shipping centers in the last day or two because they don't send from the factory directly to the customer like Apple.

I'll take my 35% cash back and wondering whether I would get my phone the 19th or early next week rather than buying from Apple to only see the shipping updates stalled at the same place for three days.

I too, got the 35% refund. But of course Apple told UPS to hold the shipment until the 19th. The phones aren't released for sale until that date; period. That's just the way it is. If tickets to a show don't go on sale until midnight, then they aren't available until midnight, eventhough the retailer had the tickets before then. Same thing goes for videogames that are released in the middle of the night on a given day. The retailer had the games before midnight.....That's business.

I was talking about the 35% cash back from AT&T by using Bing. You are talking about the early upgrade price refund from AT&T/Apple. I'm a new customer and in the bing terms it said only new customers are eligible but apparently it was working for upgrades too.

But yes I actually purchased from Apple early in the day on the 9th and then canceled the order because I heard about the Bing cash back through AT&T.

question of the day

how many folks who ordered online through Apple and were told the 19th did not receive the phone yesterday due to a shipping error (ie, UPS/FedEx didn't even attempt to deliver regardless of whether you were home)
