I just jailbroke my 3Gs and the background app is running great so far. Had Pandora and GPS Tracker both running in the background and was able to use Google Maps just fine.

Running apps in the background is the main reason why I jailbroke the iphone. I am going on a 1 week motorcycle trip and wanted to use the GPS tracker but wanted to use the maps and other things during the ride. By being able to run the GPS tracker in the background now, I can use my photo like normal and still have it track.

While I've gotten Backgrounder to work pretty well, there's one thing I can't figure out (and maybe I'm doing it wrong).

I will start streaming a baseball game on MLB At Bat, then hold down the home button to enable backgrounder. I can then move to, open, and use any other app while the game still streams in the background. This part is excellent.

However, when I exit the other app and go back to the MLB At Bat App to continue watching the game, the MLB app immediately crashes and leaves me back at the home screen. Am I doing something wrong here? To me, this would be perfect if I could re-open At Bat (or any other app running in the background) and return to the last state it was in before I left.

You have to remember...backgrounder is a hack to get background tasks working...and it may not be compatible with all apps out there.
