Go with the 16gb. I have a 16gb 3GS and only use 13gbs. That's with my entire music collection (HUGE), picture collection, 10 TV shows & 6 movies. Although I was smart enough to convert my music collection to 128kbps and also converted my movies/shows to a lower quality than the default on most programs. I can't tell the difference but I've got a ton of space. These people needing 32gbs probably have their music collection in 320kbps format and have movies in HD... Be smart and 16 is plenty...

I'm going with the 32 GB only because I imagine the 720P video recording will probably take up some room. Not to mention apps seem to be getting larger lately....

I think you hit the nail on the head.

More powerful processor and higher resolution screen will lead to apps getting steadily bigger. Add in 720p video recording, and you've got the perfect storm for capacity issues. For me, that means a 32GB. But as with all things, YMMV.

Due to the simple fact that I have 3 beautiful children I will be goin with the 32GB in black. I would rather be safe than sorry. I have a 16GB now and don't use much space because we all know the camera on the 3GS blows so pictures are pointless unless the lighting is dead on. Now with the iPhone 4 having flash the pictures will be in abundance plus the g-rated and x-rated home videos will definitely take up space. I would rather pay the $100 now and not regret it later. Plus you can always sell your 3GS to cover the cost. If Radioshack wasn't so iffy I would just trade in my 3GS with them pay $100 for a 32GB, but they can't even guarantee an iPhone 4 if you preorder with them Tuesday.

I really hope that your three beautiful children don't stumble upon your x-rated home videos while trying to watch the g-rated ones.

Definitely 32GB if you can.

I have 22.5GB of music on my iPhone, 67 apps, 1042 photos, 2 videos, and I have 4.1GB of space left. With the HD video recording I am going to run out of space. :(

I might have to create a playlist of songs I want on my iPhone since I'm already cutting it close. It would have been great to have a 64GB iPhone 4, but alas, we do not. Most likely next year.

I hear ya for everything BUT the 22.5GB of music. Do you really need that much music on your phone? I have 300ish songs, 2.5GB+/- on my 2G iPhone and thats more than enough music :p

My 8GB 3G still has 3.15 GB left! I think I am going with the 16 GB! I manage my music on my phone so it has only what I need!

Supersize me...

I'm going for a 32GB. Can't believe I thought that my original iPhone 8GB was sufficient!

I moved onto an original iPhone 16GB and to my present iPhone 3GS 16GB. I'm fairly careful with with my music, videos, apps and photos... but, I still run out space! :(

Is there anyone still surviving on the original iPhone 4GB? :D

Yeah I probably don't need my entire library on my iPhone. I might create a special playlist for the songs I listen to most/enjoy to save space. Especially with the HD video recording, going to need all the space I can get.

"More than enough music" for you, maybe...

Different people have different definitions of "enough." Please show some respect for other people's preferences.

If you can afford it, go with the higher capacity.

I like to keep my music collection on me, so I'm definitely going with the 32GB (because there's no 64GB option). :(

I'm going with 32 this time around.

I know I will use the video/photos much more than before.

Apps will continue to grow.

I have the money for it now.

32GB for me.

This iPhone will last me a while as I don't plan on buying next year's iPhone so I'm future proofing it as much as possible.

I have a 32GB at the moment but only used 5GB and that's with a 1000 photos, 20 videos and about 60 apps. I used to have lots of music on my phone but now I just use Spotify instead which uses no space but will be draining lots of my data now :(

I'll be going for a 16GB. I am a little concerned that the 720p videos may nick a fair bit of memory

considering my old school 3g 8GB I have only used up 4GB these past 2 years I'm going for the 16GB. But then again I've never had the option of HD Vid recording... but when will I really use it when I already have a Panasonic TM700. Hmmmmm... better stick to plan and get the 16 :p

I'm getting a 16GB, since I have to pay the $399 price. If I were eligible for an upgrade, I would get the 32GB.

Okay, so I've been doing a little thinking.

Yes, 16gb will be MORE THAN ENOUGH for me.

But, I started thinking about the future and a 32GB will just have a much better resell value.
I don't know if this is the mindset I should have when buying iPhone 4 but I need to consider it.

Any advice?

I have a total of about 5gb that need to go on the phone.
I don't take too much video or pictures but I might start.

First, yes the 32GB model will have some advantage over the 16GB when it comes to resale, how much just depends on what people are looking for at the time you sell it.

As far as whether you need more than the 16GB, just know that of the 16GB only around 14GB will be available free from the factory. So that gives you 9GB+/-. If you are one who always syncs your phone and only puts on the music and photos that you need then youll be fine with that much space. However if with the new improved camera and HD recording you plan on using it alot more and not taking the new stuff off of your iPhone, I would consider getting the 32GB. Trust me from experience, youd rather have the extra capacity when you really need it, rather than running out of space.

Get the 32GB. That way you won't regret it. Plus I have a lot of music and I can't wait to actually be able to fit my entire music library on my phone. Also with the 16GB, you need to leave about a gig of space available because I notice it gets a little sluggish, but that's of course with the 3G I dont know how it is with the 3GS.
