 Clearly huh? The OS in both are very different and you have to jailbreak yours to come close to being able to do what Android does...and it still isnt really close so i see no way that ICS Android is "clearly" inspired by iOS.
I love how you bolded something mid-sentence, especially just after the word ME. You have you opinions & I have mine, but don't try to bold my opinion as a fact so you can be condescending of my post. I jb the iPhone primarily for unlocking it (which is also true on any android - unless you buy a factory unlocked smartphone), 98% of things in my iPhone are standard iOS and the other 2% is stuff like emulators and folder enhancer which removes the limit of folders; I don't have themes nor I care for them, but I do believe is cool the level of customization android phones let you have. Also, the HTC ONe is full of blotware that you can't remove and a locked boot loadeder so you still have to root it just like jb to make it do what you want openly.

$100 to go from 16gb to 32gb from Apple when i can buy a 32 GB micro card for $32. Hec i can buy three of those to one upgrade from Apple. Sorry, that statement is false.
yeah you are right, it's a $100 for internal memory and have not seen how low micro sd card have gone down to since it's been a couple years since I have actually bought one.

Doesnt matter when i bolded it, you still made that statement. I dont see what the problem is what ive bolded. I bolded it and i said it isnt close to being inspired by iOS. They are totally different operating systems.
Usually fanboys think that everything from Android is copied from Apple with is really ridiculous. You dont see much said when Apple copies from Android though..and they have....and they should since they do many things better.

As for rooting, it isnt like jailbreaking a phone. Even if you jailbreak your phone you have to SSH into your phones system to change things. All rooting the phone does is allow you to access your own files and opens up many more things than Jailbreaking does. Yes you can use a custom ROM but those usually have the rooting built into them so you can do that without being rooted from the start.

There is a app in the Market to unlock your phone if you have a Samsung or you can do it if your phone is rooted OR you can just call your carrier and tell them you are going out of the country and they will give you a unlock code for free. T-Mobile does anyways.

You can remove any bloatware by rooting the phone and getting Titanium Backup from the market. Then if you want, you can unroot the phone and the bloatware will still be gone.

They are real cheap now even for a class 10.

iOS devices don't need to be SSHed into. I have used all types of 'hacks' w/out ever using a SSH client. Rooting and jb are the same thing; they both open up your file system. Unlocking the bootloader is where Android differs not rooting; since you need to unlock the bootloader to use custom ROMS. You might say that rooting can let you overclock your device, sure, but the reason jb an iOS device doesn't is because the limitation is hardware based so it can't be over clocked.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprise the cheap prices were on class 10 ones.

Anyways, I believe this BB deal is a great one for a very nice phone for the masses; better than most phones in that $50 category.

If you dont mind signing on for a two year contract with that phone.

Are you seriously buying a new phone every 3 months? I doubt it.

No.But I would love to buy a phone with all the current modern features UPON RELEASE s that those features make the phone current for more than a few months. The iPhone has never been that. And never will, so I'm switching to the Samsung Galaxy 3. I'm so excited to finally get off the Apple disappointing release cycle that I'm willing to rebuy about $300 worth of apps and another $200 worth of TV shows to do so, which was the hurdle of why I did not do it sooner. Good luck with your 3.5" screen, non-expandable memory and extremely dated OS system - keep defending / making excuses for it while the rest of us grin. :) Now I'm free to buy ANY Android phone in whatever cycle I want, plus have movies, TV shows and apps cross-over manufacturer bounderies. And finally be able to get FLASH on my web browser. I'm SO stoked.

so the first iphone was outdated????

so the first iphone was outdated????

OMG - Yes. It had no 3G (only Edge) at a time when every other phone had 3G, did not run ANY THIRD PARY APPS at ALL (that did not happen until one year later with OS 2), was limited to 8 GB internal storage at a time when most phones had a microSD slot that could give you up to 16 GB swappable, no removaeable battery that every other smartphone had, very slow processor for the time, only 128 MB RAM at a time when most others where 256MB, no copy / cut / paste, etc. The only thing that was innovative (and a BIG thing that pretty much carried them into the phone market) was multi-touch. That was the ONE and only innovation that Apple brought to the smartphone market, even to this day. But it was admittedly a huge thing. But no other release of an iPhone had any innovations whatsoever after multi-touch - they were basically catching up to market. I know people are going to say Retina display, but that's just a high density screen that everyone was inching toward anyway - not at all innovative. Apple has market power because of fanboyism so the products are going to sell, but because of that market power they if anything are causing innovation to slow down or be completely misdirected, such as Siri.

At the time of the initial release of the iPhone, I had an HTC phone running a version of Windows CE that I had pretty much somewhat similar apps that I have today with tabbed app folders and widgets in the OS with everything I mentioned other phones having above, but had a single point touch screen used mostly with a stylus. I went over to the iPhone with the 3G (2nd) version only because I wanted to carry music on my phone and at the time, the iTunes music I used on my iPod (Classic) was DRM protected. I the kinda got stuck with the iPhone because I started investing in apps and TV shows and movies that were proprietary to Apple, but now I'm to the point where I'm so fed up with being greatly disappointed with Apple for every single iPhone release and it's fanboys for justifying the ommisions that I'm taking the loss and getting out. Couldn't be more excited. When the iPhone 5 is released with their "earthbreaking" "revolutionary" 3.7" to 4" screen, I'll be laughing. :)

It is indeed strange that Apple sells two (and even three - in case of 3GS) year old phone models when other companies release new models at least once a quarter. For example, nobody sells original Samsung Galaxy S anymore (2 year old).

Are you seriously thinking that Apple still making iPhone 4 and 3GS? Those are either left over or refurbished.

You are beating that stupid micro SD argument like a dead horse. I have had one other touch screen phone and it was awful, but hey, it did have a removable micro SD so I guess that saved it from always crashing and terrible response for a touch screen. My brother had quite a few droid phones before he got his 4S and couldn't stop singing the praises of the iphone compared to his other phones. He worked for Verizon so he had a new phone more often than the rest of us. Screen size is not everything. It sounds like you are just bitter that you can't move your music and movies. You knew what you were doing when you bought all that crap. Don't cry about it now.

I use an iPhone and Sammy SGS 2, and they're both great devices. It's really annoying how easily threads revert to iOS Vs Android!

Why can't we agree to disagree and move on!

Some people are overly emotional and attached to material goods!

At this point, getting an iPhone 4 with 8 GB Storage with a 2 yr contract [ even free] is a poor financial decision!

Current high end 4S model - 3.5" screen, dual core processor, no 4G LTE, outdated OS, no microSD. Yep a perfect product.

Name me a quadcore processor phone in the states with LTE....

waiting....

waiting....

still waiting....

waiting...

i'mabouttodiei'vewaitedsolong......

Ok then how about this: Name me a quad core GPU in a phone that outstrips the iPhone 4s's

waiting....

still waiting....

See? I can cherrypick specs like a fool too?

You are going to a Samsung Galaxy S3?

let's see:

Screen too big to be used properly as a phone (opinion, just like saying 3.5" is too small)...CHECK!

terrible Pentile screen....CHECK!

plastic construction that feels like a cheap toy....CHECK!

gimmicky overlay to icecream sandwich....CHECK!

"only" a dual core processor (that iPhone had 7 months prior) if you want the LTE model in States....CHECK!

"only" an 8mp camera (that iPhone had 7 months prior and is still superior).....CHECK!

not as good of battery life as iPhone 4s (7 month old phone)....CHECK!

gpu that performs a paltry 5.4% (based on Anandtech GLBenchmark 2.1 Pro - Offscreen (720p) test) better than the gpu in a 7 month old phone (you guessed it, iPhone 4s)....CHECK!

Less ppi than a 7 month old phone with 3.5" screen meaning text and everything else won't be as sharp....CHECK!

and finally, no option to buy the most desired, most professional, most classy color, black.....CHECK!

Good thing you are going to the Galaxy s3.....

I LOVE this response!! Half truths, saying it will not have things like quad core or black when there are no USA models announced, using judgement as fact, and all the other things all the fanboys do to justify what Apple does. LOVING THIS! CHECK!!

So glad to get out of this insanity. Have fun with your delusions. I'll have fun with my new phone. CHECK!! :D

What is half truth about the SGS3 having a terrible pentile screen?

what is half truth about SGS3 having crappy TouchWiz to pollute the pure android experience?

what is half truth about it having a screen that is too large for a phone? (it's not a half truth just a widely shared opinion)

what is half truth about it having a dual core processor to work with LTE chips? we have benchmarks of a dual core Verizon LTE variant.

what is half truth about the unimpressive Anandtech gpu benchmarks?

what is half truth about it's lower PPI than iPhone?

what is half truth about it only having an 8mp camera?

See, you have no defense? you just say "have fun with your delusions" but you present ZERO facts to contradicte what i said. I guess we know YOU will have fun with YOUR delusions since you can't deny anything i said.

Samsung Galaxy S3 is unimpressive and has just as many faults/issues as ANY OTHER PHONE. Guess you are the blind fanboy :)

Read your post again. It's ALL opinion and some outright lie, over-emphasis on minor things, and glaring ommissions. Have a nice day in fantasyland and your taller 3.95" iPhone 5 in 6 months. I'm SO stoked to be away from this all. :D

I have read it again and there are no lies. And you, with your second post, have come up with nothing. Guess you just don't know what you're talking about when it comes to phones. If you can't admit you have nothing to say at least leave the thread gracefully. You probably can't even do that and will come back with some foolish comments that doesn't touch any of the points i've brought up.

I'm so stoked i'm not you....

When you out it like that I wonder why anyone in their right mind would be ecstatic over the Galaxy S-3 :p

Some serious ownage right there in that post.

The others, not good reasons at all. It doesnt take up much space at all to add a Microslot. Does this look like it is taking up too much space?

Image
Yes, it does look like it's taking up too much space. The back had to be engineered to be removed with tabs, etc. that hold it on securely. Underneath that, there has to be a second back that hides/protects the sensitive innards of the phone, and also provides a good deal of play in order to get the removable back on and off. All told, I'd be there's nearly 1/8" of space used for that removable back where Apple uses a couple of millimeters for the iPhone 4/4s non-removable back. Not to mention, take a look at any breakdown of the 4/4s - there's no extra space in there, meaning Apple would have to build out the case just to add in a card slot of some kind. It's not the Apple elegance and simplicity that buyers know and love. You obviously do not, but luckily there are plenty of manufacturers out there who could not care less about elegance and simplicity. Have at 'em.

All this ^^^ over a pocket, hand heald, manufactured device...Are Y'all really serious......Really?

I came in to learn about the BB iphone for $49 bucks (the wife wants her first iphone as this would be a perfect intro) and all thats here is a bunch of senseless noise..

*leaving dissapointed*
