The ‌iPhone‌ 4 also marked the debut of the front-facing camera on an ‌iPhone‌, enabling selfies for the first time

Ahem. The mirror Apple logo on the back (debuted with the original iphone) was a selfie mirror. It's why many early cases had a cut out to reveal the mirror.

Why cases are still available with that cut out hole mystifies me, but whatever I suppose.

I remember showing up day of launch to an AT&T store (no overnight camping, no standing in line, pre-order or anything) just to look at a display model of the iPhone 4. Sales rep asked if I had any questions. I asked what the wait time on was on getting one (figured it was going to be weeks to a month). Said, let me go check. Said, if I wanted a 32gb model there was no wait. I kept that until the iPhone 5S.

The iPhone 4 was what got me fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem. I was using a Samsung Omnia at the time and this was leagues ahead of it-- so much so that I switched from Verizon to AT&T at the time just to be able to make calls and browse the web at the same time :p Waited in line for hours but couldn't miss work, so I came back to an Apple store the evening of launch day and got a 16GB phone...amazing how that used to be a lot of space!

The iPhone 4 is still the biggest “wow this is awesome” feeling I’ve had with any of the iPhones.

The industrial design and proportions and weight and everything was just such a perfect package.

The only iPhone I got a day early just to be told I was holding it wrong and got a free bumper. I still have this one. I look at it every now and then and chuckle

My second iPhone, and still one of my favorites (alongside the 5 and 13 mini). Never really had the antennagate issues, maybe my hands are just the right size or I used my phone with a case the majority of the time.

Despite the controversy, the iPhone 4 was Apple's most successful smartphone launch at the time. The company reported pre-orders of over 600,000 units on the first day alone, and long queues were seen outside Apple Stores on launch day across the United States and other countries.
That logic doesn't logic. No one knew about the controversy when they were queuing half a mile for an iPhone on launch day. May as well say Marilynn Myers married John Wayne Gacy in 1964 even though he would be convicted of 33 murders in 1980.

iphone 4 was the first iPhone I thought was truly "good enough". That is, good enough that I skipped iPhone 5 feeling there wasn't any urgent need to upgrade. Soon enough I then dropped to about every three years.

my iPhone 4 had the faulty home-button that stoped working. only hardware issue I ever had on an iPhone. the iPhone 5 was a great upgrade after dealing with that for months.

audio FaceTime is fantastic. I wish that was just the default calling between iPhones.
I've only used the video, so what's the big advantage of audio FaceTime vs just a normal phone call (other than not counting against call minutes which is unlimited for me)?

Most common use for FaceTime for me is calling my wife to have her make sure I'm picking out the 'right' item she asked for.

This was the phone that got me to switch to iPhone. I innocently walked into an Apple Store and picked one up and the quality of the screen blew me away so much I instantly bought one, including eating a early termination fee from Sprint (I had a Palm Pre before) in order to switch.

Zero regrets.

The new screen tech was just magical. It was the first time I ever looked at a photograph on a display and it looked like an *actual photograph* rather than just an image of a photo on a screen.

Radically better audio quality. it sounds like you're in the same room with them
