and I've used FaceTime maybe 5 times in that 15 years 😂
I've probably used FaceTime video that many times in the last year. While it's just very occasional use, it is VERY useful when needed. One memory from 11 years ago was when my daughter was in the hospital was watching my son using iPhone derived iPod to have a video chat with his sister.

I bought the iPhone 4 and it was really impressive, until Three turned off 2g where I lived (there was no 3G coverage). Though it was down to antenna-gate! After a short stint with a HTC Desire bought the 4s and have been iPhone ever since!

Let's also not forget how Gizmodo purchased stolen property, tried to play dumb when caught redhanded and have been bitching about Apple ever since.

Ahem. The mirror Apple logo on the back (debuted with the original iphone) was a selfie mirror. It's why many early cases had a cut out to reveal the mirror.

Why cases are still available with that cut out hole mystifies me, but whatever I suppose.
I never realised that and I had a 3GS until it’s battery exploded. Still find it amazing how I’ve been impressed by the thing’s performance and software, App Drawer as a form of multitasking and the ability to have that rain droplet wallpaper on the Home Screen.

I have good memories of this iPhone. It was my first iPhone because I kept waiting and hoping it would eventually be available for Sprint. By the time the iPhone 4 was announced, it was just too good not to buy. The retina display was amazing. I also gave up hope of Sprint getting the iPhone. I hated dealing with AT&T and their stingy data plan.

I never had a signal problem because I bought a case at the same time I bought the iPhone 4.

I love facetime. It lets me help family set up their Mac so I can screenshare.

it's the preferred method of communication for gen alpha girls. fml.

source: my niece and goddaughter.
My wife facetimes her sister and her kids, our niece and nephew, every morning. We’re able to be a daily part of their lives growing up, even when we’re not physically there that often

I and my parents facetime my sister for them to be involved with their grandkids/I with my niblings there for the same reason, albeit not every day because my sister has a crazy nuts schedule

Definitely not just gen alpha

A combination of Facetime and Zoom (during the Covid lockdown years) killed Skype. Of course, Skype was already doomed after its acquisition by Microsoft, as with all other Microsoft acquisitions over the years.

one of the most iconic designs of any smartphone ever.
I do miss the days of apple releasing something that made your jaw drop every couple years; which made you want to line up for it.

Not the same rehashings of the same phone 6 or 7 years running.

The iPhone 4 was one of the most amazing physical objects ever made by humanity. I have a couple and pull them out every once in a while to marvel at them.

Funny, my youngest has a continuous Group FaceTime that her friends pop in and out of every night. It's interesting how these mediums change over time.

iPhone 4 was my favorite form-factor; comfortable to hold, fit nicely into one's pocket, and just had that wonderful black-and-silver aesthetic. I never had the "antennagate" problem, even if I deliberately held it the "wrong" way.

If they did a reissue of this size and form factor I'd "shut up and take my money!" so hard
