Yeah, cause like we would NEVER pay more for a 52" HD TV than we pay for a 20" one!!!

So now a 6.2" difference in size iPod Touch vs a iPad is the equivalent difference of 32" on a HDTV? Get out of here.

HDTVs have so many variables, brand, features, etc. that it would be foolish to compare that to two identical featured products with the only difference being size. Hell it doesn't even have the features the iPod Touch or iPhone has.

So great job there slick.

In TVs, every inch makes for a better experience. Web-browsing in this day and age is nearly as enjoyable on a mobile browser as on a desktop. I thought long and hard about trading in my iPod with some cash for a 16GB iPad and I saw no reason. iPad is simply not a music player. For those of us that lug books to classes every morning, I don't see how it's an adequate replacement.

Who actually pays for a 52" HD TV? Anything beyond 32 is too big and is a waste of money. Basically you are looking at the same thing. No need for bigger screen size.
Agreed

Couple thousand dollars for a bigger screen- waste

30 Inch TV is big enough, I dont see why people would go beyond 40 inches.

Bigger screen size is better until it gets too much like 40 and above inches
Seriously, such a huge screen, i wouldn't be able to concentrate on what i am watching

Agreed, Ipad is certainly not a music player, Anyone who uses it for music must be out of their mind.

No... that really depends on how far you wanna sit from the TV.

A 52" is a much better experience then a 32" one.. I can tell you that first hand...

And anyway regarding all these electronics.. it's not about need, it's all about want..

iPad and iPod Touch/iPhone serve quite different functions...

iPad is best for the "couch browsing" web browsing style...and as a e-Reader... plus for displaying photos...

iPhone with it's smaller screen isn't nearly as good for doing those particular functions...

but it excels at phoning, MP3 player with cover flow, casual gaming, on the go web browsing...

And an iPad is great for watching video or reading on the treadmill or elliptical however not so great for wearing while lifting weights!!

First "smart" phone I had was an LG Dare (sad, really), but it introduced me to the possibilities of a smart phone/multimedia device.

I then bought an iPod Touch and that changed how I thought about these devices. Except then, I was carrying around both the LG and the iPod Touch.

Bought an iPhone 3GS 32 gig, gave the iPod to my son and never looked back. I've got my entire music collection on it (4000+ songs) and a few movies and still have about 7gig open.

Side note: 3.5" screen is ridiculously small to watch movies on, so that is reserved for treadmill time...

Not true at all. I own a 82" custom made TV in our movie room and it's fantastic. A 32" would look horrible in our movie room.

LOL you want to talk about a waste of money? $699 vs $400 (64GB Wifi vs 64GB touch) for two devices that essentially have the same functions except for size. You are paying a $300 premium for a larger screen, no camera, no retina display. If anything getting a iPad is a waste of money.

as an app developer, I have to disagree. An iPad is NOT a giant iPod touch. Some of my apps work well on the iPT and some of my apps simply are impossible to use on the iPT. It's not just a bigger screen, it's more space to place different views. No more need to drill between different views. You can see both the parent and child views on the same screen, which is important for some apps.
