i am not sure what NFC is other than "Near Field Communication", if that is what NFC is what would that bring to the table.

I just received my iPhone 4 about a month ago and so far i like it a lot. I like the size and weight. I think a phone should have some heft to it and the size of this phone fits perfect for me.

The only change i would want is a larger screen but not if it means making the phone larger.

Being able to pay with your phone.

Its widely used in Japan. At all Train stations. I've been to Tokyo quite a few times and still have my Pasamo Card and Suica cards. They are really quick and easy to use.

It would be like an EZ-Pass. Debit cards would be obsolete.

All the people who have the iphone 3GS that are patiently waiting for an upgrade.

If this next iphone has NFC then I will be perfectly satisfied to upgrade. If it doesn't have NFC I will be very annoyed but will upgrade anyway.

Please have NFC!!!!

I've had NFC in my credit card for the past two or three years... still haven't seen anywhere that I can use it, so for me it's just an extra logo on the front. Can't say i've got any burning desire to have it built into my phone too. Though, of course, if Apple stick it in the iPhone then the tens of millions of new customers all with NFC they want to make use of might make shops adopt it more quickly...

Yup, Oyster card in London (for use on the tube and buses) and the Octopus card in Hong Kong (MTR, buses, shop purchases, heck my friend just bought a beer at Happy Valley race course with his Octopus card!) are similar

Thats why iPhone 5 will be a small update and iPhone 6 will bring 4G network and many more features and become the "new" iPhone 4.

I believe that Apple will have a problem getting very satisfied IPhone 4 customers to switch to a new IPhone 5. If IOS 5 works on the IPhone 4, then what will it take to get people to drop their IP4 for a new phone? It would have to be something REALLY good. I can't think of any one thing that would make me switch. There will always be some people who want the latest, no matter how much it costs. Would moving from a 5MP camera to an 8MP make me switch? NO. Would having a 3.7 inch screen make me switch? NO. Would having the capability for both CDMA and GSM make me switch? NO. Would a dual processor make me switch? NO. Would having all of these and a generous early upgrade offer from my carrier make me switch? Maybe.

Nope. Apple has intentionally omitted new features from the iPhone 4 to keep it for the iPhone 5. It's all business, and Apple will find a way to make everyone upgrade. Regardless, the next iPhone will sell like crazy, and faster than the iPhone 4.

Yep, Apple has a way of making people want something that, previously, they thought was a useless as a white crayon.

apple's thinking bigger than recapturing their installed user base. there are far more people without smart phones than people with.

Yes, but I think this is more a carrier issue than an Apple issue. I know plenty of people who were willing to pay for an iPhone (even at the high price) but did not want the $29 data fee which makes their monthly bill expensive.

I hate paying $150 a month for my wife and I to have our phones.

I hope they come out with something completely new with iOS 5 because I'm board with the current interface!

If the proximity sensor and antenna issue that has affected all 4 of the iPhone 4's I have owned (and every other one in the office where I work) are fixed than that in itself would be enough to sell it to me. I've made a fairly significant investment in software that I wouldn't want to have to try and replace on Android.

Not sure anyone can Quantify that statement without current statistics, because I see everyone around me with some sort of Smartphone whether it be BB, iPhone, Android Device, etc. I can visually see more smartphones then plain phones, but without current statistics to support this, I am not sure I agree anymore that regular phones out number smartphones?
