"Usage does count if while the phone is off if you left any apps running in the background. Double click the home button and anything that shows up in the bar is still running whether the screen is off or not. Hold any of the icons down until they wiggle and then close them out.

This is only true if the app is truly multitasking, like Pandora or GPS running in the background. For everything else, usage is not accumulated. Looks like you skipped that day at Apple Tech school.

He is in no way any kind of Apple tech. Clearly he is confused with the way IOS works. The only benefit that would most likely be had by shutting down apps in the task bar would be to free up RAM. The IOS is supposed to free up RAM when needed, though sometimes it doesn't do this as well as it should.

With all those that are turned off I get a good 5-6 hours usage.

In terms of my brightness I like it quite bright so I keep it near the top so if I reduced that to half chances are I would get a fair bit more usage but to be honest I like it bright and in terms of using it....I get what I want out of it and when I get the ipad 2 I won't be using my phone much at home.

I always have 3G turned off now too as that saves alot of battery power.

I use my iPhone a LOT, and do make/receive phone calls. With heavy usage & several calls, I can get a fully-charged iPhone 4 to last around a day & a half. i.e. it's charged and 9am, and I don't have to charge until the next day's evening.

How long do you make your calls? After about 3 hours of conference calls, I'm roughly 60% battery (on track for Apple's 7 hours of calling on 3g).

She was talking about 10 total hours, not ten hours usage.

True, I was thinking useage. However, the other point to bring up is battery %. We're thinking dead dead (ie. out of juice). She may be thinking 20-30% is "dead".

Hey what happens if I change the battery to a new one??? will it void the warranty??? and does the battery ever overcharge or screw up if i leave it for too long with the wall plug that came with it??
