Yeah, I wasn't clear with what I meant. I assumed I'd get an average of ~8 hours no matter what I'm doing. This was obviously incredibly stupid.
On a side note, I just played Gangstar (terrible game...) for 20 minutes. Brightness on half, Bluetooth off, 3G on and connected, wifi on and connected, push emails on. And I lost 8%. Would this be considered normal? This was the first time I actually recorded my times. Everything else I've said have been estimates.
I think yes. 8% is good.
It's OK if you were confused.
The iPhone is not a miracle phone. It's just a smart phone. It does better than a lot of phones, but to be honest, many other phones coming out with Android have as good a battery life as the iPhone 4.
That being said, they are all about the same average.
Being on the internet sucks up a LOT of juice out of the battery, so really, all they can give you are estimates. Maybe you say you were on the internet for 6 hours before yours died.
Maybe I say I could only make it 5 1/2 hours. But, what exactly were we doing? Also, out phones are set up differently and we have different apps running. I also have push mail and never turn off my cellular data. It's on 3G 24 hours a day on push.
I also like to watch YouTube.
Doing YouTube on my Blackberry Bold 9000 gave me a few videos and a little more browsing. It was all downhill from there.
I was really amazed that I could browse the internet for over 5 hours on the iPhone 4.
It's a tiny battery, it's a big bright screen, and when it's working a lot it gets HOT.
So, making it 6 hours is awesome.
Here's what I did. I turned off the stupid percentage next to the battery. I was getting ****ing obsessed about it.
All I want really is the phone to get me through a whole day. The iPhone certainly does that.
If you're a heavy user, keep a charger kit in your car. Charge on the way home.
