Yeah, I'm starting to think that my battery is defective. And why is it bad to have my battery life below 20%?!

My phone goes down to like 5% and has even died a few times before I get home to charge it.

Dude your battery life is not bad at all

I always used to get 4 hours max until I turned off the locations, push notications and 3G.Once I turned all those off i get a good 5-6 hours each day of usage. I could get more but I have my brightness set very high which is what I want. I like it to be bright.

when I charged my phone up my stats were

6 hours, 30 minutes

1- day and 7 hours standby

Thats the most i have ever gotten, it isn't always consistant. for example when i'm at work i get less usage as i'm not using wifi. getting only 4 hours of usage is hardly terrible and no letting the phone run down to 5% doesn't hurt your phone at all.

Volume doesn't matter either.

Concerning Push Notifications:

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Push is ON.

(I normally had Fetch for every hour, but for FindMyiPhone, they require Push to be On, so I just turned it on).

Settings > Notifications > ON

1. Alarm Clock
2. Angry Birds
3. Bump
4. Chase
5. Dictionary
6. Doodle Fit
7. Durak
8. Facebook
9. Flixster
10. Game Center
11. Inception
12. Jenga
13. Scrabble Free
14. StickWars
15. Tango
16. Twitter
17. Words Free

^Everything is on for Each of these Apps, I'm talking Alerts, Badges, Sounds, it's all on.

Now, how bad is this right here hurting my battery life?

Also, I like having my brightness at 100%, but how low should I go to enjoy more of it?

Currently, I have:

Usage: 2 Hours, 12 Minutes
Standby: 5 Hours, 25 Minutes
63% Left

I really want to be able to use my phone for at least 8-10 hours a day with a standby around 15 hours, but I'm not even sure if that's possible with the iPhone, is it?

In terms of e-mail switch fetch push data to off and just do manually that will help battery life

so will switching of all your Notifications..that will help your battery life alot.

i had all those on and was getting 4 hours max, now i get a good 5-6 hours..normally around 6 hours, 20 minutes ish while still getting a good day on standby.

I have my brightness near the top...maybe say 80%? and thats the way i like it. i could get longer battery life but i don't like my screen when it isn't bright.

Our wifi went down so I turned off Push and turned on Manual. Man, what a difference, especially in stand-by.

Yep makes a big difference, it's pointless keeping it on as all you have to do to check e-mail is to click on it. Why do you need to have a push for it?

How the hell are you getting over 8 hours usage and over 36 hours standby?

After playing more games, here is my current battery life:

Usage: 3 Hours, 23 Minutes
Standby: 6 Hours, 54 Minutes
Battery: 27%

I don't get it, is something wrong with my phone?

I don't know, the setup is just like what I said on my previous post, maybe because Im mostly on wifi? And also I barely play any games more than half an hour.

Yesterday I was outside most of the time so 3g is being used at most, my battery level is now at 40% with 5 hours 2 minutes usage, 20 hours and 27 minutes standby.

The battery on the iPhone 4 is the best I've ever seen on a mobile phone. I can go 3-4 days on a single charge. I turn my phone off for about eight hours a day while I sleep but it's on the rest of the day.

Guys, the thing about email push being on, is that I read somewhere that if you want your Find My iPhone to work, it has to be on, so you can find the phone (I assume).

That's why I have it on, so in case something happens, I can find it.

Or will Find My iPhone still work if I switched the Fetch New Data from Push to Fetch?

Also, my brightness is at approximately 50% :/ and instead of 17 Apps running Notifications, I now have:

1. Angry Birds
2. Chase
3. Durak
4. Facebook
5. Game Center
6. Scrabble
7. Tango

My phone is also always on vibrate. Currently I am:

Usage: 53 Minutes
Standby: 1 Hour, 19 Minutes
Battery: 91%

And I just turned off all the background apps.

If this doesn't improve my battery life by the end of the day, than I either give up and accept it, or go to the Apple store and get checked out at.

But honestly, the change from 100% Brightness to 50% is pretty lame. :(

Your numbers are normal. Apple's claimed battery life is only if you have 50% brightness with everything but the cell phone part and wifi turned off. Their battery life claims also do not allow usage of e-mail push/fetch.

This is what I get with:

3G off
Blue Tooth off
Push off
Ping off
Wifi on
Location on
Brightness@60% with auto brightness on

Definitely wrong. I hate being a slave to email so I don't even have an email account set up on my iPhone and FindMyPhone works just fine on my iPhone 4. I do have calendar and contacts set up via Gsync but both of those are on manual update. Nothing is set to anything other than manual.

Fix your Push bug tbh, like I said in the other thread your usage stats are completely false due to buggy push connections staying open in iOS4.3.

2nd Day using my phone at just 60% brightness, and surprisingly, the battery life is better than yesterday.

Played music on it for at least 30-40 minutes, and the rest of the time games.

Currently:

Usage: 4 Hours, 29 Minutes
Standby: 15 Hours, 8 Minutes
Battery: 39%!!! :eek::eek:

Honestly, I'm happy with these results, more than I was a few days ago. The days not over yet, so we'll see how far it goes.

The iPhone 4 could probably get 300 hours of standby time if you removed all apps and all services connected to the phone. And just let it sit in airplane mode. Other than that, I agree with you. No way it would ever last 300 hours.

My iPhone was taken off the charger around 7am, and it's now 2am in the morning and this is the result so far.

Right now I have:
3 hours, 42 minutes of usage, and
18 hours, 42 minutes of standby, with 47% remaining.

Here is a picture I took a little while ago of my usage indicator:

^Nice results, I have yet to see over 20 hours, or over a day of standby on my phone. How bright is your screen, btw?

I normally leave it on 50% brightness with auto-brightness on to light up/dim the screen when needed.

I was looking at your results and your battery is perfectly normal. I normally charge my phone overnight, so as long as it lasts a full day I'm perfectly happy. I also purchased a RichardSolo 1800 about a year ago for my old iPhone 3GS that I use to have. Now that always stays in my jacket pocket. So if I'm ever out and about and my battery is about to die, I could always charge up my phone.

Also, what I find helps these days... I turned off the battery percentage indicator. I was always obsessed with looking at that percentage while I was using my phone and when I saw it dropping too quickly, I would stop using my phone to try and prevent further battery kill. Once I turned that off, I just started using it as a normal phone and I no longer worried about my percentage and just enjoyed the phone. I use it much more now than I did before.

And let me tell you, that picture was taken before Tiny Wings hit the app store. :)

So yesterday I posted my usage around 2 in the morning. This is my usage right now just before my phone was going to die. It's still on the same charge since Friday morning. Not bad if you ask me.

This was my record :D

Was in Hong Kong with it, and barely touched it till I got home again, and due to roaming wasn't using it for calls, sms or data :)

Just reading manga on ComicZeal

How mad would you of been if your phone died before you could of taken that screenshot :p

Hmm... my first day yesterday with the Verizon iPhone was alright. I was running push email (bad idea) from 5 am to 4 pm straight with heavy use of web surfing and Skype and killed the battery life there.

Not too shabby but today I turned off push email and most notifications and see where that goes from there.

If you don't like push, try setting up a Microsoft Exchange email server. I currently have two set up and my battery is just fine.

When you plug it in and goto usage. It still shows your usage before the battery died. I done that on my last Screenshot.

Yes, but then it would have also said, iPhone has been plugged in since last charged, or something like that and no one on this website would have ever believed him.

what are your settings to get that much usage? Most I ever got was 6 hours, 30ish minutes
