I've been using 3 different bluetooth devices with my 3GS and had no problems.
With my iPhone 4 my bluetooth devices won't stay connected at all. I have 2 Jabra units and a Jawbone 2 and they all disconnect constantly....'
Should I get a replacement phone?

Apple replaced my iPhone 4 due to my complaints on Bluetooth connectivity. The new device works better with my car, Ford Sync, but I have drop out issues with my Moto headphones. I wasn't sure if it was the headphones or the phone, but now I'm starting to think it might be a proximity issue with the phone as I do leave it in my pants pocket.

Oh well, off to open a ticket with the genius bar.

Mine connect to my Eclipse Bluetooth and Plantronics simultaneously and calls go to the Eclipse maybe because a stronger battery/signal it seems which is good as I don't have to remember to turn off the Plantronics, it then connects to it out of the car 'most of the time'.

However, it connects and disconnects like crazy indoors at times when the Plantronics and the iphone are inches apart.

I still can't answer the phone when its connected to the Plantronics without the call going to the phone, and me having to go to settings, bluetooth, etc.

There is supposed to be a fix/update coming by the end of July for this and the proximity flaw.

I like this phone for the most part and have 20 more days for them to fix the bluetooth, or I will look at something else.

I've opened another bug report. I'm expecting it to be closed as a dupe soon as this is being widely reported on the dev forums for 4.1 beta.

The BT clarity issues are all boiling down to confusion within the OS on mic priority. Should be easy to clear up with a software fix.

So it sounds like this might be fixed in 4.1? I know it's a stupid question but any idea when that update might be released?

I've been experiencing an issue with not getting a call notification or a ring from the blue tooth built in my Nissan Titan after upgrading my 3GS to the iPhone 4 version OS. I even updated to the 4.0.1 and had no success in getting a ring from my audio system, so now I will not be able to catch incoming calls while driving. :( I've submitted my comment to Mac on the issue.

I have the same issue with my bluetooth headset. The ringtone used to play through the headset, but it doesn't do that anymore. So if I have the phone in my pocket and don't hear the ring coming from the phone, then I won't even know there is an incoming call. :(

I've found it much better than the GS in terms of BT performance in vehicles with built in BT HF

Contact Apple about this problem!!

If you have not yet, please contact Apple about this problem. When I called to advise someone they had no idea of a issue with Bluetooth connectivity

The muffled bluetooth sound issues seem to be an actual IOS4 problem not a problem with the iPhone 4.

Check out this video demonstrating the issue with the muffled audio over a bluetooth connection:
