This thread is a pretty big fail. Obviously having a film over a lens is going to mess up an image. Especially with a flash that will just leak over the film.

Yeah I was about to say maybe there's a type of wrap on the back of the phone. Good to know in advanced, though. I'll peel that stuff off the first time I get my hands on it tomorrow morning. :D

Shoot! I did the same thing this morning! I didn't realize the film caused the problem until I read this thread. Hahaha.

Seriously, who leaves the film on things? That's the first thing I do with any new gadget.

Yuck!

Same issue BUT....

I had the glass back of my iPhone 4 replaced at the apple store (phone fell out of shirt pocket while I was being attacked by a Redwinged Blackbird) They replaced the back of the phone, and this issue appeared. They had installed the new back with the plastic film on the INSIDE.

All that really needs to be done is

Breath on the flash area and wipe clean with a soft cotton cloth in most cases. The oil from your skin smudges over the flash area and causes it to reflect back into the lens

Anyone else encountering a similar issue when using the LED flash?

I have the same white glow in ALL flash pics. Even if its in the daytime. I tried taking off my hard case and problem solved! Try taking pics with your case completely off and take pics with it on and notice the difference. If that doesnt work for you Id suggest contacting Apple Support. That really sucks for me because if I wanna take a quick night shot I have to take my case off :/ so stupid. they should fix the flaw in their cases!

Hi, I had the same issue if flash went off otherwise would take perfect pics in daylight as my flash wont flash in bright light conditions, guess it depends on the phone brand but today I popped off the cover over the cam lens and flash with finger nail to see the led was easy to slide out of its bracket. this is on my Nokia C5-00, an older phone. i put a thin piece of plastic cut from a zip lock bag over the contacts then inserted the led and cover. no more wash out and no more flash. flash wasn't very strong anyway. (if you do this make sure the led goes back the same way.) They should have had a black foam rubber seal between led and case. before I could see the flash through the usb hole, light bounces all around in that area of case. (Removing the plastic film over lens did nothing for me). Hope this helps?

PS. There's no way for me to know which other cameras this will solve the wash issue with, might be something else with your cam? When I think i want a flash I'l get some black foam rubber and see if i can isolate the flash but probably not worth the time as my single led flash is only effective for a short distance. At least its not like viewing a picture through a Fog now. :)
