I haven't used WP7 but have used 6 and I wouldn't recommending it from that experience.
6 and 7 aren't even from the same planet. No comparison can be made between those two. One's a fossilized dinosaur and the other is a new hatchling.

One will make you cry. The other won't. It is upto you to decide which one it is you feel happier with.

I work at an AT&T store and was given a Samsung Focus to demo for 4 months from Samsung. Let me give you some background info on myself, I have owned EVERY iphone from the original up to the 4, and never thought I would use anything else.

I really like the Samsung Focus/WP7 OS. It's easy to operate and really does bring something different to the mobile phone world (live tiles). It IS fast and responsive (except the marketplace...that lags like crazy...though there are 3rd party apps that basically bypass the native marketplace app). The notification system and email system are better than iOS IMO. The social networking integration is pretty awesome too (facebook profiles, profile pictures, and status updates show up under the people hub (contacts) and I can view all of this without having to go into the Facebook app itself)

That being said, it isn't perfect. It reminds me a lot of the the original iphone, with basic functions missing (copy/paste...multitasking...etc), and the marketplace (app store) is no where near as developed. If microsoft invests time and money into WP7 they might have a genuine product to compete with the iphone, if not, then right now as it stands it doesn't compare too well to the iphone.

I'm only about a week into my 4 month demo and haven't decided if I will keep the Focus, go back to IP4, or see what else is available at the time. Like pretty much everyone else has said though, this decision is USER PREFERENCE. Go to an AT&T store and play with each phone and see which one you like better!

just sold my wp7

If you live outside UK or US, the wp7 experience are very limited. No native language/dictionary and no paid apps. Using Bing as a search engine is also useless in my country.
Beside that has wp7 too many small things left out for now. Maybe they will it develop with time, but for now am I returning to ios.

But sometime in the future I believe it will play a part in the smartphone market, and I did like the tile start screen, and with more live tiles, it will be great. I loved the idea of having a live start screen, where pictures etc. changed automatically. The Metro design was very visual appealing and the system very smooth. But for now I will stick to ios...

This x53254

And yeah the Marketplace app is pretty unstable right now. Apparently the next update fixes that. Speaking of which, they're taking a bit too long to release it.

My friend has a htc mozart and he let me have a play with it, the interface is really slick and fluid - zero lag although games take a while to load (he says they are fixing that in a coming update). Many missing features at the moment, but if MS ever fix that they could have a real contender on their hands
