I too have a 4 and have been curious to see how it works. Don't want to update and it cause issues with the performance.

It works better than I ever expected. Same performance as in iOS 6. So yeah, it stutters a little sometimes, but extremely workable and looks fantastic. I'll definitely hold out until the iPhone 6 now.

I have an iPhone4 and love iOS7 on it. My update (finally) completed about an hour ago. I'm not seeing any of the 'doom and gloom' stuff like people on here have made it out to be. It's still very usable and doesn't seem any slower than iOS6 was.

Granted, there is a noticeable speed difference if you're used to an iPhone 5, but it's certainly just fine for normal use.

my iphone 4 just finished activating :)

but it is very laggy.....it takes a while to registers ( a few seconds) not so smooth but it looks elegant

i like the fact Flckr is now included in the photo send options but needs more destinations.

My iphone 4 has been updated with iOS7. Feels like a brand new phone! There's bit of lag on some apps and other things but overall all it's smooth.

I have an iPhone 4 and just upgraded. It's very laggy. I experience significant lag when typing a single letter on the keyboard. Takes a few seconds for the letter to actually show up. It's not really functional anymore.

Wow idk but I'm on an iPhone 4 right now and mine works fine. A little lag here and there but nothing worse then iOS 6. I've experienced no problem. Perfect no ... Good yes

Why are only some iPhone 4 having trouble with iOS 7?

That's terrible. Do you have any idea what it might be about your phone that is making it so laggy? Did you have any troubles on ios 6 or do you maybe have very little free space? Did you update OTA?

Would be good to try and work why some thrive and others fail.

I installed iOS 7 on a old iPhone 4 I had and it was pretty laggy. Your best bet would be to stick to iOS 6.

Just installed here, complete manual install that is.

It is a touch laggy, not too bad, seems to be more the animations everywhere ... that you can't turn off! However, do turn off some translucent settings under Settings / General / Accessibility / Increase Contrast ... set it to On.

The install takes forever even when you have it fully installed. Going on hour 2 after download completed. 1 hour to unpack and over 1 hour stuck at the apple logo.

Took about half an hour from start to finish for me as far as the download and install goes. It's a little laggy, but so was ios 6. Overall, i'm a happy camper.

Be warned that Apple can block downgrades to ios 6 at any time!

For general users, I'd read that arstechnia article posted above and think carefully. For me the slowness of ios 7 drove me nuts and I'm back down at 6.1.3...

I'm happily surprised about how good it is, very usable and still looks pretty good considering a few bits and pieces have been left off the iPhone 4 version. Was actually considering getting the new phone but ISO7 has made me stick with it for another year.

I have to chime in here. I have experienced this on iOS6 too. That's why I have restored to factory on a few occasions to try to "clean things up". I had the same issues of typing taking forever and all the other lag problems.

I haven't updated to iOS7 yet but I am pretty confident that there is no reason that iOS7 should render your iPhone 4 slower.

I think anyone who is having problems needs to not merely update but do a new restore to factory. I recommend this for all major OS updates.
