I too keep hitting N instead of space. I thought it was just me. The case I had for my 3G covered the bottom of the phone on the front. So there was rubber directly under the space bar which helped typing by touch. My new case doesn't cover that area. I figured that's why I was having so many issues. It never occurred to me that others were having the same issues.

Wow I thought I was the only one having the same issue. I find myself always hitting the n and b instead of the space bar. Really trying to aim low for the spacebar now...

I don't notice any difference in my typing speed or accuracy between the 4 and my old 3G. It's actually a huge improvement overall, since installing iOS 4 on my 3G made it into a laggy, virtually unusable POS....but that's a whole 'nother story.

I found myself making more mistakes for a while... I actually think it's due to the difference in shape, the way I'm holding it without the rounded edges. I was just getting used to it when I got a bumper, and it took another two weeks or so to get my wpm up (43 wpm on iTextSpeed!!) - now I'm faster then I ever was on my 3G

I also seem to make a lot of mistakes. Actually, I blame it a lot on the new autocorrect changes that were brought with OS4. This was the first thing I noticed on the new iPhone. It seems to change words a lot more than before, and has lots of stupid changes as mentioned above. I also noticed that in the new phone it seems to want to change the length of words, as if it is trying to correct my spelling or something. I usually have no problems with spelling, only missing the proper letters on the touch screen. I think the new phone/OS is trying to do more of a spellcheck than it is autocorrect as in the old phones/OS. My iPhone 4 is constantly adding/subtracting letters to words, which is very annoying. I very rarely leave out a letter or add in an extra letter on the iOS keyboard, as it doesn't allow for a "mash" where it would accidentally hit two or more keys at once. I think this is a really big downfall, and I wish Apple would give an option to return to pre-OS4 keyboard functionality. It worked much better for me. I spend a lot of time typing, then deleting, and retyping because the autocorrect/spellcheck changes words with terrible logic. I had the 3G and 3GS and neither of those ever caused me problems while typing. I do, however, believe this is more of an OS issue than it is hardware and form factor.

it may be an OS4 issue - I remember when I applied the GM iOS4 candidate to my old 3GS, the bottom alphabet row was much more sensitive when trying to hit the space key.

I agree with Glaxx the most, seems the autocorrection software was changed and sometimes gets a bit too bossy with my words. Yes, I also suffer from the space bar problem too, always hitting n or return.

come on! you must know this Judy person! Must likely you should check the contacts app on your iPhone and you will find the answer to our autocorrection problem (a contact named Judy) and thus make it just ;)

Also OP I'm intrigued, why you 'awwing' so much?

Because my already cute girlfriend keeps sending me pics of even cuter kittens? lol :p

Edit: didn't see a similar joke was already made higher up :(

Agreed. It is more difficult to type on the 4 than my 2g. They should allow you to go back to the old auto/spelling correct.

I mistype a lot in landscape mode, but I always have. I don't know how people use the landscape mode, it's so cumbersome to use.

iOS4 on 3GS

Yup - I've definitely noticed my typing has gone to pot since I upgraded my 3GS to iOS 4. I'm pleased it's not just me either - was beginning to wonder how on earth I could be getting less accurate with my fingers so suddenly!
