I love mine. I can get the signal to go down but not disconnect (and I can't always replicate the problem).

Otherwise it doesn't have any of the other issues I hear about (particularly glad it doesn't have the proximity sensor cause I'd ahve to exchange it if it had that nor the green dot on the camera).

I'm coming from a 3G and the thing that had me excited was the camera quality and videotaping (that was one of the two things I wanted to see improved about my phone) but was really happy when I discovered that, yes, the GPS is *much* better (the other thing I wanted to see improved). But the speed difference alone is worth it even without those two things.

Yes, I think it's too fragile (judging from what I hear and that yes, it's glass and it breaks like you'd expect something that has a front and back of glass to break). I'm torn on that cause I do like the design but I don't think it's practical and think cellphones should be designed to take at least a little abuse. And annoyed cause I have to put a case on it cause of fragileness (therefore ruining the whole point of nifty design).

Dropped calls seem to have stopped now, though I still have the signal issue, no problem, I am just waiting for my local Apple store to stock up on some, so I can get one!

mmm White on black iPhone 4 :D

I'm glad I got this kind of response from this thread. The phone is really bad ass and I think it takes a little heavy use to really grasp how refined the new os is along with the new hardware. Keep loving the phone just like I do.

Note yes I can reproduce " bar drop" by holding both sides with my thumb and first finger on those small slots but really who holds a phone like that to talk. When I'm on the phone I don't even look at bars and no dropped calls at all. And even when holding the phone in that special awkward way, I never get no service. Again this phone F'n kicks a.....

I got the original iPhone, then upgraded to 3g, to 3gs, to blackberry bold, to nexus one, back to 3gs, then back to 3g. Then I finally got my iPhone 4. Hands down, the best smartphone I've used. Best is not always about what's under the hood, but how whatever is in it is utilized.

Battery kicks ass, screen looks amazing (the difference in readability between the 3g and the iPhoen 4 is huge!), it's fast (I expeirence almost no lag at all), design is amazing, Facetime is spectacular (never thought I'd even use facetime a lot, but my gf and I use it everyday since she still lives at home with her parents, used it last weekend when we were deciding which clubs to go to and I facetimed one of my friends who was at a club to see if it was crowded, AMAZING!), I actually get a constant >1.5mbs download on ATT 3g here in the DC metro area and couldn't be happier, I also carry around a sprint 4g3g overdrive hotspot which allows me to facetime on the go. I do drop calls once in awhile, but definitely less with the ip4 then when I had the 3g. The design is sexy. Build quality is great.

A lot of the poeple I know have been coming up to me and telling why I got it knowing the signal loss issue, I give them my phone and tell them to recreate the scenario, they try and always fail.

I too think iPhone 4 kicks major ass.

iPhone 4 is great. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either a troll or has unrealistic expectations.

or isnt a sheep and likes using data and making phone calls?

im jealous of the op though, i wish my i4 worked that well. with wifi, its almost a perfect phone minus the not being able to call thing. but its not a very good mobile device. i wish apple wasnt being so ignorant and would fix this thing, but that probably wont happen. but it really is an awesome device, would easily be the best cell phone available if they would fix some of their flaws. right now its around the top of the head, but is severely hampered by not working as a phone.

The club had wifi? Sounds like a cool club! (to us anyways)

This is great to hear. Thanks for the feedback, sirs.

I came from a 3g and I must say I love thissss phone. The screen is so gorgeous and the video is amazing. I find myself taking videos of all kinds of stuff just to watch in amazement. I am about to take a vacation and soooo glad I got this for my trip.

I came from a Blackberry.

The new iPhone is my rocketship blasting me from this planet into the heavens.

I need to put it down.

ugh! I can't wait for mine to come! ship already!!! lol I'm on a 3G and I drooled over the 3GS wishing I had an upgrade, this thing is going to blow my mind, I just know it :D

Iphone 4 = Awesome

I love my iPhone 4. Overall I have not had all the issues everyone else is having. That said, when I bought the iphone I also purchased a bumber. I was doing my research prior to the launch and decided that glass front and black and an unfortunate accident would potential yield damage if iPhone was dropped. No big deal to me, I always kept my iphone 3gs in a case with a screen protector. I live in chicago and I have not had any calls dropped. As a matter of fact, there was always 2 dead areas on my commute home where my calls with my 3gs would dropp every time. With my iPhone 4 this does not happen.

I understand everyone with receprtion issues feel they should not have to purchase addtional items to prevent the signal loss from thei death grip. I do not think there will be a recall so unfortunatley you have 2 choices buy a case or return the phone. As for yellow spots and such, exchange the phones. Issues happend durning the manufacturing proceess.

Over the years I have had many issues with my iphones (proud user since they were launched). I have just taken the phone to apple store and they addressed all of my concerns.

I do completely understand the frustration some are going through. I just don't understand the knee jerk reactions to the situation.

Droid Can...be a Dinner Tray!

Anyway the point is everyone is complaining about the phone but I think I kicks F'n a...... Compared to the 3GS and the new droid which I played with yesterday and felt it was def nice but sup-par to the ip4. So try playing talking on a diff phone then see how you feel about the new phone.

I did play with a Droid and...it SUCKED. It felt like I was holding a dinner tray. I was about to break out a sandwich and eat on it. The icons were soooo dated. I wuv my iPhone! :D

Low Bars? No Worries

I noticed all bars drop while holding the phone, and intentionally sent a text and made a call at that very moment -- noooo problems!

I came from a T-Mobile G1. I was sorely disappointed in the G1, even after going to that from an HTC Touch (Vogue). I had an iPod Touch 3G and a G1, and between the two, I used my iPod touch wayyyy more. This is mainly due to the snappiness of the interface and all of the apps. The iPhone 4 is everything I wanted it to be. The display is crisp and the camera exceeds my expectations. The only gripe I have is with at&t and them taking away the unlimited plan and what seems to be more than double the taxes in what I was paying on T-Mobile.

my phone and my wife's phone both have been great, we got our bumpers yesterday, more so that we could tell them a part then anything else. I have always had shotty service in my house but this phone really holds the call. So I am a happy camper as is she.

So got my ip4 last wed in the mail. Upon getting it I loved the look but was very concerned with the glass back as I will not use a case or bumper but also do not want to baby my phone. So the first few days I used a lot of data ( text, email) more than the telephone so didn't have the reception issue but have kept a close eye on MR just to see what people have been saying.
Until today I thought I wanted my 3GS back (gave it to my mother in law) but I went on a trip from San Diego to LA( Beverly hills area) and used the Internet the whole way. Fast and great flipping between the gps (to find food) and back to testing was flawless and fast made and answered 7 phone calls not a single drop and people sounded much clearer than my 3GS. Today was the first real day I had to use and rely on my phone and it performed great. Note: my father was driving this trip o I was the passenger. He still has a 3GS and @ one point his text message went off ( I had not held a 3GS since last WED) I picked up his phone to check it for him and my brain lit up. I love the iPhone 4 the 3GS felt bulky and cheap and not as bright and clear and just felt old already. I was shocked that I felt this way.

Anyway the point is everyone is complaining about the phone but I think I kicks F'n a...... Compared to the 3GS and the new droid which I played with yesterday and felt it was def nice but sup-par to the ip4. So try playing talking on a diff phone then see how you feel about the new phone.

Agreed. This phone is f-in amazing.

Another happy and overjoyed iP4 user here as well. Not plagued with any of the problems that have been reported by other users. Perfect call reception everywhere I go, no screen or camera problems.

Coming from a 3GS, this thing TRUMPS it big time.

I made the switch from a blackberry cruve on TMobile.

My first impressions are that this phone has simulated what it must be like to be a crack addict! I cant put it down!

If I squeeze the side where the antenna gap is, I can reproduce the problem, but I only drop a bar or two. However, it's not a natural position for me to hold it, and the slot is only about 1mm wide. I think this "issue" is being blown way out of proportion, at least in my experience.

I've put a few people on mute with my cheek and dropped a couple calls. However, I'm not ready to blame the phone. This is my first touch screen phone. One of my colleagues at work told me once the cases come out I'll probably be fine. He said he had the same problem on his 3GS until he got a case and got more accustomed to his phone. I got applecare just in case. :)

I LOVE this phone.

One other thing, about the reception. To get to my house, you have to drive through a valley then go up a steep hill. The tower is slightly on the other side of the hill so there's a notorious dead zone of about 600 feet. With TMobile (and Verizon - my wife's carrier) I knew when I'd be about to drop a call like clock work. Well, no more dropped calls in this location! I dont think it's because of AT&T because we have a corporate agreement with them and I tested a AT&T Blackberry curve in this location and had the same results.

This is by far the best phone on the market. Some people will always hate certain product, but the majority of people - from what I hear in person - love it!
