Duh. The 3GS was a marginal upgrade.

Compared to the 1 to the 3g? The 3GS was a substantial upgrade over the 3G.

Processor speed increase of 200Mhz, doubled the internal RAM, added video, added compass, added voice control, camera bumped up 1MP and included auto-focus and tap to focus, included increased battery life, doubled the memory size to 16/32GB.

My wife's 3GS is substantially faster and smoother than my 3G. However, I think my 4 is going to be substantially faster now :) Too bad she isn't up for an upgrade until 2011!

...on the other hand there are also people who went from...

Original iPhone
iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4

due to the early upgrade eligibility granted so "graciously" by AT&T.

Not a whole lot of people. Most normal users who bought in June of 2009 have to wait until Feb 2011 or pay $200 extra.

Why is this a surprise? The 3GS sucked. Like the Edge-only original, which also sucked. YES THEY SUCKED. Don't tell me they didn't, because I've used them both, and guess what? ... They SUCKED!!!

Why are iPhones following a Star Trek film - like up and down pattern?

This is going to be incredibly hard to get in Canada with it being factory unlocked. Servers don't let me down.

I thought iPhone 4 as sold in Canada is factory locked to the carrier (Bell, Fido, Rogers, Telus, Virgin Mobile).

Garbage?

Faster processor
Faster graphics chip.
Faster network.
Twice the RAM.
Better camera, with video recording.
Longer battery life.
Nike+ support.
Compass.

If that's garbage, then feel free to send your garbage around to my place for some loving recycling!
How about the gyroscope, the FLASH(you can now use your iphone camera between 6pm-6am)!

This pretty much shows the whole Apple claim about the Jason Chen/stolen iphone/lost sales in the millions story to be a completely speculated fabrication on Apples part.

How are they going to claim they lost revenue in the millions with the early disclosure by Gizmodo? A good defense attorney can take this data and shred Apples claims in the search warrant documentation. The free publicity regarding the 4G clearly didn't hurt Apple, and possibly worked to their tremendous profit and benefit.

Of course, I'm not touching the iphone until some other network that AT&T is authorized.
