OMG its not going to happen... mommy loves daddy, mommy loves daddy! No, its not going to happen, no way, no, please no.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: /s

I saw the press conference - it wasn't a keynote. And there's no fix because Apple's stance was that there is no issue - that ALL PHONES exhibit this. The free case program was to shut people up.

I don't agree with Apple. But the message coming out of Cuppertino is clear. The Antenna is the best they've had on any iPhone. Again - it's not a question of whether or not it's a fact. It's their messaging.

If they change their stance, they will shoot themselves in the foot.

No silent fix. Sorry. And any fix would not and could not be silent. FCC would have to re-certify and within a week any change would be all over the blogosphere.

But if it helps you sleep at night with the idea of problem-free iPhones dancing in your head coming off the production line - feel free

You must have been sleeping then when you watched the (excuse me) "press conference". They straight out admitted it´s an issue for some and offered free bumpers to ease the issue and tp make people happy.

You know I bought the flawed iPhone 4 and I´m fine with it. The antenna issue is not an issue for me, ´cause I use it with a case anyway (not Bumper, it´s crap!). There´s actually more serious issues than the antenna issue, like the phone´s ear piece being way too low in volume.

I wouldn´t be disappointed one bit if they fixed the issue with the next batch. I would actually be happy for Apple. It was my choise to buy and keep the "antenna issue" iPhone. Apple has every freaking right to do a fix for the next batch and people who would whine about it are just bitter fools!

It would be stupid for them to keep manufacturing flawed phones, when they obviously can fix it.

So we will see who´s gonna have the last laugh! ;)

You've missed the point entirely. And I was very wide awake during the press conference. I have a career in Marketing and PR and have for over 20 years now. I can tell what was said and what was not said. My experience in the field also helps me assess situations exactly like this - damage control.

When I say you missed the point - what I mean is this. Apple's stance publicly is that there's no antennagate. That all phones present this issue. That the iPhone is the very best phone they've made to date. They went as far as to show other phones performing the same if not worse. The message is clear - there's no issue. That's APPLE'S messaging - not mine. Nor is it what I believe. And to be frank - I don't think the Executive Team at Apple believes it either. But that is the position they are taking.

And because that's the position they are taking - anything to undermine that position won't happen. They won't fix what they are telling people "ain't broke"

from http://gizmodo.com/5626570/rumor-new-iphone-4-antenna-design-coming-late-september
and https://www.macrumors.com/2010/08/3...hardware-revision-coming-by-end-of-september/

CanalMX reports [Google translation] on comments from an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel claiming that Apple is set to release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue.

The exec says that Telcel customers are able to get the free iPhone 4 case until September 30, when it expires (in the US as well). This meshes with what we've been hearing behind the scenes at Apple, that they're working on an actual hardware solution to the antennas—one that doesn't hide the antenna, but either coats it or changes the material to something that doesn't react so badly with your skin.

The Android fandroid with a laggy Vibrant decides to post about a rumor to stir up some flames in the iPhone forum. Get a life dude.

It doesn't matter to me if they fix it or not, I've accepted the issue with the phone and use it regardless, however if they do fix it they very well better replace my phone for a new one.

Even if apple redesigns or fixes the antenna issue... I am pretty sure that they will not replace old iPhones. They would end up with a few million handsets that no one would want to buy.

Your best bet would probably be some kind of exchange program where they charge a discounted rate for the fixed version if you trade in your old one... probably ~$250 or so.

I guess you'll all know one way or the other in about a month

you (and all other people who bought iphone 4) were clearly told that:
1. There is a small problem about the antenna which may be observed in other phobes too; but the problem is there; however very small percentage of costumers are disturbed by it.
2. despite the new antenna design, 4's Antenna has a little bit lower function comparing to 3gs.
3. Apple gives free bumpers to compensate this problem.
4. people who are not satisfied with the current situation (that very small percentage) can get the full refund.
5. Apple will look forward to see if they can solve the problem by september 30th.
Now I dont know wether a solution for this problem is coming or not but the people who were aware of the whole story and are still whining about a possible solution, make me sick because they are really selfish

They never said they were going to solve the problem by Sept. 30. They said that after Sept. 30, they're going to re-evaluate the situation. They never said they were working on a fix. The Bumper IS the fix.

We´ll see... ;)

And yes people who will whine about the silent fix are just selfish and clueless.

If this dosen't turn out to be true, I ain't buying an iPhone 4. Simple.

Come on! There´s much worse issues than the infamous "antenna issue". Like the phone´s ear piece speaker being so quiet you that cannot hear the other person in public places. Much more serious issue!

plus you could get one that doesn'thave the antenna issue like me and my friends....

1) Random forum post on the Interwebs: Will Apple change antenna at end of September?
2) Carrier Executive: Wow, Apple are going to change the antenna!
3) Gizmodo: Antenna change confirmed?!

Circular rumour much?

don't know what press conference you watched, but it wasn't the apple one!

not gonna happen!

if they make any changes at all, I will expect them to replace my phone with a new one. free case or not!

I picked up a few Iphone 4's in Hong-Kong this last week. 1 for myself,1 for my wife and few for my friends. I had ordered these online from the Apple store in Hong-Kong. All came with version 4.02 and came unlocked. I was praying that my phone would not have any reception issues or antenna issues and inserted my HKCSL SIM card inside and wallahhhhhhh reception was perfect and I had no reception issues while in Hong-Kong. I tried that death grip that I saw people apply on Youtube and had no problems with losing bars or reception. Today I got back into Taiwan and picked up my new SIM card for the same service that I had which I was using on my HTC Desire. With the HTC Desire reception was always perfect and near full bars at pretty much all times.

I got the new SIM card and placed it in the new Iphone 4 I had just bought and it started out at 1-2 bars and fluctuated between 2-3 bars:mad: I went outside and reception increased and climbed to full bars. I tried the death grip and the phone which I got my wife did lose bars down to 0-1 bars:mad:
As I just arrived tonight and have not had much time yet to try but so far tonight I can see that reception is definitely poor here in Taipei,Taiwan using this new Iphone 4. The new Iphone 4 definitely has reception issues where signals could be weak. In Hong-Kong there were no reception issues so I can definitely see how bad of an issue this could be in the US where everything is very spaced out.
