Iphone 4 notifications not working

Upgraded from 3gs to 4. After activation i set up iphone 4 as a new phone sync my contacts and and apps from itunes(did not restore from backup). I cant get notifications to work though. Is it better to restore and download each one of my apps on the phone or is there a better way to do it? thanks

Is it all notifications or just from a certain app?

Did you open all the apps and allow them to send you notifications? Remember, you just did "set up a new phone". So every setting is gone.
