I get about about 8 hours usage & 8 hours standby out of my battery with heavy texting & slight game playing with a very low backlight. I feel like it should be better than that, though. Does restoring as new help?

I am looking at my CDMA iPhone 4 and I have 4 hours usage and 21 hours standby - I have 76% battery remaining...

I don't think that is bad.

I certainly charge it more often than my old dumb phone - but this works for me.

Is there a way to test your battery?

mines been horrible lately, and I don't even play games... today I unplugged it from the charger at 8AM went to class at 10am, Facebook/twitter all class... at noon i had 2 hours of usage 3 hours of standby and the phone had 63% battery life....... so I decided to delete Find My iPhone and reset my network settings... so tomorrow will be the real test, if not ill be taking a trip to apple...

How many people are finding that their iPhone 4s have been exhibiting less than satisfactory battery life lately?

Mine has been dropping several percent even while in sleep for an hour.

I got mine on launch day.

Usually when you've had a device for a certain amount of time the battery does start to deplete. My mom's 1st Gen iPod Touch doesn't even last 30 minutes. I think she bought hers right after mine... sometime in 08. But I did notice that they started to die quicker within the first year. If you feel like you really need to call Apple and tell them that your battery is depleting very quickly and it's barely been a full year since you had the iPhone.

You might not know this but Facebook and Twitter use a lot of your battery life because, when you're using them you tend to stay on the internet for long periods of time. I've noticed that if I stay on twitter my battery will start to deplete a lot faster than if I am just texting and listening to music. Hope this helps you :)

I forgot to mention I was using wifi the whole time while browsing Facebook/Twitter

Battery life issues are SOFTWARE. Reset all settings/ restore the phone. If you must be ignorant, apple technicians can run diagnostics that will almost undoubtedly say your battery is FINE.

Every iPhone I have had at one point burned through battery. They either worked themselves out, or the issue was corrected when I performed a software restore or update.

You see the exact same thing with poorly managed software on Android and Symbian phones. It happens over time with iPhones with the right luck and abuse.

Woah. Hold up. No need to call ANYONE ignorant. That's so uncalled for.

Do you have the brightness up all the way or something? I know using wifi should help with the battery life when you're browsing the web. But, seems like you might have a battery issue. I'd take it to Apple so they could check it out.

That is amazing battery life

I don't have that amount til like 40%

It depends on the ratio between usage and standby.

well when my phone died last night the usage was

6 hours usage
2 days, 12 hours standby

alot does depend on the standby.

normally i get a good 6 hours, 30 mins standby to 7 hours while also having it in standby for at least a day.

to me i do get good usage but it seems many here get better than me

I consider myself a moderate to heavy user. My ratio is normally 4 hours within 9 hour standby.

I have the brightness half way up (where the default is set) and it's on auto-brightness

Hm... I don't know then. Take it to Apple and see what they say.

All this talk of good battery life (I have good battery life) is almost meaningless unless one:

a) Details your usage as to how you use your phone. For example x hours of phone time, y hours of app usage and browsing (and some apps are a lot worse thaqn others for battery usage, especially Skype), listening to music, 3G or wifi etc.

b) What you have turned off or on, eg location services, notifications including push mail, wifi, brightness etc etc

I am jailbroken, have location services on, wifi off, notifications on (including pseudo push mail via the pushmail app), brightness at default settings.

I get roughly 6.5 hours usage a day ( recharge nightly), with 3 hours phone usage, approximately 3 hours app and web usage. My phone (a replacement but probably non-refurbished) is about 3 months old.

I think it's pretty average for the kind phone it is--its actually pretty decent while on WIFI but using only 3G still cuts down the life of the battery quite fast! If I had to depend on a 3G connection all the time without having any access to WIFI--it'll be done within 5-6 hours. That they still get such piss poor battery on 3G makes me question that a 4G iPhone would improve on battery life--it would only worsen even more...

It is actually a lot better than average for smartphones:

Apple told me "that my battery is fine but it did throw some crazy numbers" whatever the hell thats suppose to mean... then they said that they would do a complete restore.. apparently getting your phone wiped at the apple store is better than doing it at your house from what the guy said... it seems to be a little better..

batteries are super easy to replace on iPhone 4's! 3 screws.

It is easy but not as easy as it initially was as newer iPhone 4s use pentalobular screws. To do it properly and avoid stripping/generally screwing them up, one should really just buy a pentalobular screwdriver available online at various places for a few dollars.
