oh boy

Could we NOT have this discussion, at least for a few more months??

Am I the only one out there who HATED hearing about 08 Presidential candidates in early 06, and who would rather spend one year enjoying the 3GS versus waiting a full year for the next iteration? :D

NO

and YES you are...

I want 802.11n wifi for the increased range in the iPhone 4. I wanna stroll in my local pub and get a good WiFi signal anywhere.

Camera flash that doubles as a camcorder light! Maybe more colors would be nice. I think a wine red iphone would look pretty sick. The ability to change message notification sounds!!

Great analogy. The new phone is less than a week old. Maybe start this conversation next year. Besides, a lot can change in a year. I do not think a compass would have been in the phone if it weren't for the Android having it.

Patience. You must learn patience.

Not a bad idea but just too early and not fair to 3G s users.

In these situations, I like to browse to Apple store and customize a Mac Pro....
After looking at the price, you just laugh it off and move on.
Give it a try OP!
Tommorow there will always be somethig new but you shouldn't deprive them of present....

Quick reply.....That is and would be the most usefull thing ever. Like when you get the text that comes up when your in a different app. You can type right there. That would be amazing.

It does worry me a little the people who are requesting an aluminium backing, since the metal case hampers signal strength...

Mobile ariel design is nowhere near that simple as to make a blunt statement either way. There are ways around it, but there are lots of factors involved.

It might well be that a metal back isn't possible, but there are lots of alternatives to the current ugly back design, and there's no reason at all for the curvature.

Luckily for you I hear scientists believe they're close to inventing a computer where you're not compelled to read threads you're not interested in.

The thing I like about this phone and the Google phones are the widgets. I think it would be so incredibly useful to be able to have widgets on the iphone lock screen, before you slide to unlock. Say have contact widgets where you can have 2 or 3 people you call most just be there in one tap. Or the weather widget to see the weather forecast without doing anything.

I think it's possible because of dashboard that OSX has on the Mac. Apple seems to be putting more OSX things on the iPhone, like spotlight, so maybe dashboard on the lock screen is the next step.

1) iChat / front facing camera
2) new body: return to aluminum, consistency with unibody Mac's
3) Wireless N (with speeds allowing wireless sync while on the network)
4) OLED display
5) physical feedback when typing/tapping
6) inductive power (contactless)

1) not going to happen (i still don't understand the obsession with this)
2) never going to happen
3) not going to happen
4) +1
5) never going to happen
6) never going to happen

Care to elaborate Mr.BlanketStatement?

1) Several phones already have front facing camera/video conferencing and the higher speeds permitted by the 3G upgrade in conjunction with SnowLeopard iChat's new 1/3 bandwidth improvement will certainly enable this further.
2) The first iPhone was already built in a metal. Apple's green initiative is known to move it away from plastics and towards Aluminum + Glass.
3) Wireless N. Why the hell not? It's the new Wireless standard.
4) Definitely coming: battery savings, better blacks, less space required in the case.
5) Check Apple's patent filings for clues to this.
6) Every portable consumer device category is moving in the direction of inductive power. The Pre was the first mainstream phone to do this but toothbrushes and even some power tools have been doing it for years.

i don't feel like it, how about a good old fashioned wager on which of these come true? i'll put down 500 dollars for each one, spare number 4
