iPhone IPhone 4 Restore Problem (Error 21)

When I try this order, I get General error from Redsn0w when attempting to create the custom IPSW.

Anyone having this issue?

Download TinyUmbrella
Open it, go to Advanced Tab
Check or uncheck the point host file to Cydia (clear cache if needed)
Type gs.apple.com into browser to confirm where host file points

Sorry for the late reply, it might be because I was using redsnow on a mac. Perhaps the regular order to customizing bb first and then stitching might work on the pc side. Did you try the regular order?

Also you can always try snowbreeze and ifaith since you are on pc.

Solution

I had the same issue with a relatively simple solution. I had to restore using the computer with which I'd jailbroken. Not sure if this is because Redsnow wasn't on the computer I'd tried restoring with originally or what other reason but the restore was uneventful after I switched laptops.

My iphone 4 is now restored with ios 5.1.1. The snowbreeze method worked for me.

As someone told, there is another thread on how to do the same with redsn0w: first (order is important) stich the shsh, then do a 'custom ipsw'. This method might work on Macs, not on two PCs (win xp and win 7) that I tried. The url to that post is (just for referencing):

I used snowbreeze on PC instead of redsnow on mac.

On PC:
-I extracted the SHSH blob from the iPhone using ifaith
-Used snow breeze to create a custom IPW (in faith mode to stitch the extracted blob)
-I also increased the part ions size to 2024 instead of 1024
-DFU, itunes shift restore.. Viola!!

I really don't know why i couldn't get it to work on mac using . I even tried to restore on the pc before, but i was using the firmware created by redsnow. I still got the 1600 error. But when using the custome firmware created by snowbreeze, worked like a dream!! Now my phone is restored to FW5.0.1 BB1.59 and signal is back !

I just factory unlocked my phone. If you are AT&T, and your phone is not blacklisted, you can get your phone unlocked for $25
Just goto:

Also make sue to check your IMEI as per the instructions on the page.

No more BB preserving and all that crap. My iPhone 4 is currently on 5.1.1 and basband 4.12.01 and can work on any carrier! Cool

Right. But I figured since I originally posted this thread having error code 21 that the ultimate solution to this error is to factory unlock!

Unlocked, locked, baseband has no effect on ability to restore.

Put it in DFU-mode and restore in itunes to 6.1.3
