Again, OP, I dont think its a defect. There are numerous sources out there that say that the screens have been gradually been getting warmer and theres even one link there that says it might be firmware related. But dont let me or my illogically reasoned opponent make the decision for you. Its up to YOU if it bothers YOU. YOU have to use it every day. Not me or him. I'm just warning you, dont be so disheartened if you get turned away solely because your screen was warmer. Also keep in mind that the phone they swap it out with might have an ever worse problem (and when it comes to iP4, there are way way worse problems). "[Warmer screens] That's intentional, Apple’s senior director of iPhone product marketing, Bob Borchers, told MacWorld in its first official response on the matter. It's meant to make the display "more natural" and less like harsh fluorescent lightning."

I guess, man. You replaced 5 working phones because they one had a warmer color temperature. You're right. There is clearly something wrong with me. I feel bad for the Genius that had to deal with you. If they replaced it five (!!) they did so out of the milk of kindness and were concerned with making you happy not for a defect.

The forums are OCD enough as it is. Lets just agree to disagree.

Edited to remove ad hominem argument.

I want to add that I agree that yellow screens are defects. People claim they are getting "warmer", but then after 2-3 months the phones all start coming with perfect screens. Seems to me the first few batches are rushed out to meet demand, and later after things slow down the phones ship with their intended screen color.

Genius is an idiot. 1 single dead pixel on any iPhone means replacement. email Steve [if he answers XD] or call Apple. I'm sure he'll get fired :apple:

My thoughts. I would demand that mine is replaced if I had dead pixels or an obvious yellow tint. That being said though, mine, and about 10 other iPhone 4's I've inspected, also have slight light bleed on the two top corners of the screen when displaying a white background, which is only really noticeable when turning the screen sideways and viewing it from an angle. That's LCD's for you in general... I definitely wouldn't replace somebodies screen for that, unless it was especially bad and an obvious defect...

There's this thing that's new that isn't an Apple product. It's called a girlfriend!

My week 46 replacement iPhone 4 (replaced for unrelated issue) too has two "half pinhead" size dots of light bleed in the top corners. Looking for problems like this I believe is on my part over the top.

By the way, looking at the 4 photos by the OP clearly the two on the left show light bleed but I am not sure what the two photos on the right are supposed to represent. Are they of the replacement phone as I see light bleed there too, especially in the lower right photo. In that photo I see light bleed by the signal strength indicator similar to mine. Do you as well?

If you got dead pixels then it's understandable to ask for a replacement.

However, in this case the yellow tint/ "light bleed" is not a defect. The yellow tint is roughly 6500K where as the light "Blue Tint" screen is an unnaturally 7000K. Any hardware forum in LCD/image reproduction would all agree that 6500K (Yellow Tint) is what you want.

With this said, search around the IPS/Color/LCD forum and you'll see people with IPS LCD complaining of receiving a "Blue Tint" (fluorescent) LCD and are exchanging in hope of receiving a more "Yellow Tint" LCD. All my IPS screen has a yellow tint (Laptop, LCD, TV) and only my TN LCDs have the blue tint.

If you have another IPS screen lying around do go and compare and you'll understand. (only a handful of Premium Laptops have IPS technology - Lenovo Tablet, HP Dreamcolor 2)

Now, if you prefer the more white/fluorescent/blue screen by all means go hunt it down but to say a "yellow tint" IPS screen (6500K) is a defect is not true. If this were the case then the majority of highly regarded IPS LCDs are defective.

It's more appropriately phrase "I prefer the Blue/fluorescent Tint" not "The yellow tint is defective".

the left side screen is blue and sure not normal
the right side screen whos all calls warm/yellow or whatever they callit , its look more natural color and more realistic
i'm definitely agree with istud ;)

Twisting to the right the colors start going browner and twisting to the left they go bluer/greyer. Do the IPS screen's great viewing angles no apply to the colors as well?
I am debating replacing my phone with its yellowy screen for another phone if I can.
IPS is for colors.

the right side screen whos all calls warm/yellow or whatever they callit , its look more natural color and more realistic

i'm definitely agree with istud ;)
I disagree with istud.

Just bought a unlocked iPhone 4 today. It has light bleed on the right and left side :( .Made a genius appointment to see if I can get a replacement.
